Ohana recent review

I just went to Ohana's this past Sat. and I was a little disappointed. I had made an ADR here because last year we had such a great time there and we loved the food. This year not so much. First we were seated away from the action and my kids could hardly hear what was going on. The person that does the entertainment is now a woman and was very soft spoken compared to the gentleman that use to do it. Then like others have said, the service was not that good. The appetizers came right out and then our waiter was missing in action. I was never asked what my children wanted to eat. I had to wait & wait till my waiter finally came back and I had to tell him that my children wanted something else not the food that the adults were eating. By that time they were getting really hungry and we were already on to our main course. The food also changed, no more potatoes. I thought the noodles were okay. Husband didn't care for the wontons. Last year they had the crunchy noodles (like the ones your get at the chinese rest.) we liked those but they did not have them this time. No sure we will go back again. :confused3

I agree that the food/service has gone down in the last few years. THe first time we ate there about 3 years ago it was great and now not so much. However, I would HIGHLY recommend the Ohana breakfast. It has the WHOLE package....GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE and THE CHARACTERS!!!! I would say that whoever eats at Ohana's for dinner is kind of taking a chance.....

From reading this thread, it seems the service might be better at night.

I had a 9pm ADR earlier this month, and the service was very attentive and the food was wonderful. The meats weren't overcooked and were served hot, and although I never had the potatoes, I loved the noodle dish. There was a little delay in getting the beef delivered (they were cooking more), but the other meats came as soon as they cleared the appetizers and they kept coming around with extra shrimp while we were waiting.

My only complaint was that they forgot to turn on the Wishes music until a minute or 2 after the show started.

Last time I went to ohana's all the food was good except when I asked for seconds specifically on turkey. It took forever and when I came it was really dry and overcooked and it was only peace on the stick , I laughed and said wow you guy are really trying to turn over tables, so I waited for the skewir to go around with many peaces and asked for one of thoose... the waiter really ddin't like us asking for seconds... and when I asked for seconds on the dessert he said it would be like 15 to 20 minutes before he could get it out, I said no problem its well worth the wait ... :thumbsup2

Sorry you had a not so great experience...we went in March and had fantastic service and awesome food

Also, just to clarify, the name of the restaurant is 'Ohana, not Ohana's. The latter sounds like the name of an Irish pub.

I know it's confusing because the character breakfast is called 'Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch, but that is the correct use of --'s to indicate that the breakfast belongs to the 'Ohana restaurant. It's just like the resort being called Disney's Polynesian Resort but the company only being called Disney not Disney's.

(And yes, I know that the 'Ohana section of the WDW Web site says Ohana's in the title, but the rest of that page, the restaurant's sign, the menus, etc. all say 'Ohana. Besides, 'ohana is a Hawaiian word, and Hawaiian doesn't use --'s at the end of words.)

Oh, my! If the misuse of 'Ohana really bothers you, you should be kept very busy on these boards with the spelling on "Boma's" (instead of Boma), "Jiko's", Kona's, etc.;)

My mom lives in the northeast and she is always saying, "Walmart's", etc.--so I am used to it and barely notice...

Thanks for the clarification. I don't know what I would have done if you didn't inform me of the proper use of the 's of possessive nouns. Last time I checked this was a fun board to communicate about Disney not to have our grammar checked. I'm sure Disney would love to hear about everything they need to correct from you as well! :snooty:
