'Ohana Question

This is my 1st time booking 'Ohana's since the new credit card to reserve policy went into effect.

Q: I booked a table for 3. My sister and I will for sure keep the reservation but we're not sure that our Mom will be up to it after a long day in the park considering our reservation isn't until 9:00pm.

If only 2 of us show up for a 3 spot reservation, will we be charged the $10 penalty for our Mom?

Unless I am misreading the cancellation policy, I think you will be charged the $10. It makes total sense, because they would be holding a 4-top for your party when you could have done a 2-top, thus keeping another family from booking into that spot.

No, it's a 3 top reservation. We always have a table that only seats 3. I'm thinking along the same lines as you and will just assume that we will be charged the $10 if she doesn't feel up to coming with us.

The truth is nobody knows for sure and it might just be up to each particular restaurant. If you know ahead of time she will not be joining you, I'd call and see if you can modify it from 3 to 2. Some have been successful doing this, others have not.

Note that even if the CM is unable to actually change the reservation from three to two, they *can* annotate the reservation with this information. This will allow the restaurant to consider your proper party size, and would give you a good argument for avoiding a no-show charge.

FYI - I just recently changed a ressie from 6 to 5 at 'Ohana for March 2012. My MIL just did not want to eat so late. No problems in changing the number of guests even if if was gtd with a CC.
