Most of the items are family style - big bowls on the table. The meats are cooked on skewers which are taken table to table. If you want some of what they have at the moment (chicken, pork or shrimp, I believe), they cut some off the skewer onto your plate.
Family Style! My fiance raves about the restaurant, and frankly, that's saying something... the man never gets this excited over food. lol So, I think you should try it.
A few food issues on Friday (overcooked pork, lukewarm veggies, the tendency for the skewer bearers to put too much on one plate - be sure if you want smaller portions that you ask them for only one or two pieces) but the shrimp was awesome and even had really good service for once. Be aware, it's a load of food and they bring it out FAST.
OP; I am with you, I am not a big fan of buffets. Two things I love about Ohana. They keep bringing as much food as you want out to you. And it is a meat lovers paradise. When I'm there, forget the rabbit food and keep on bringing the meat.
Ha, it's interesting that the shrimp is so popular.. I like shrimp but in the selection offered at O'hana it's often the item I pass on! My personal favorite is using the peanut sauce in with the steak.. I'm getting hungry just thinkin' about it.
