Ohana Pasta

There's already peanuts all over the restaurant. They do have a peanut sauce, ya know (in a big bowl on the table.). So there's really no reason to gripe out peanut allergies for the pasta as there was already some peanut there before. And LOTS of restaurants all around Disney put peanuts in their dishes, why are you guys just griping at 'Ohanas?

I'm sorry but you guys just need to realize that restaurants change their menus every couple of years and most more frequently than that. Everything is gong to change eventually, calm down, peanut pasta hasn't ruined your Disney vacation.

You obviously don't have a child with a peanut allergy and you obviously have no heart!
Why add more peanuts (I already knew about the peanut sauce and I already ensured that it will not be placed on our table) to the menu. Do you know how much work it is to ensure your child does not DIE!!!!!!!!!! And guess what.......peanut pasta could ruin my disney vacation if my child dies or gets severly ill b/c they decided to change their menu and I am not aware of it....we leave in 26 days. Do you realize how much work it is prior to going to disney to ensure my child stays safe............NO you obviously dont!

Sorry, our opinions differ. I really don't mean to sound as harsh as it comes out on the internet. I can't imagine how it is to have a child with an allergy like that.

I hope you have a safe and fun trip. :)

Calm down. No, of course I don't realize how hard it is. .

I think the 'calm down' statement is what folks may find condescending (I know I do). In your head, it may not sound bad, but when a stranger reads it in writing, it has a different tone.

We ate at Ohana last week. I asked the server why they no longer were serving the potatoes. He said that they were going to back to the original menu from when they first opened 9? years ago. The noodles were tasty, but I loved those potatoes. Our server was wonderful. He was attentive and helpful. The food was good.

Yeah, yeah we already know that you love it. Well, why can't other people voice their opinon that they DON'T like the change without you trying to stifle them. What is your big thing about o'hana and the new menu? What's the obsession? ARe you afraid people will complain to the point where they remove the noodles before your trip this fall?

Also, peanut allergies are very serious. And sure there has always been peanut sauce, but the allergic person at least got to eat potatoes. Now they get no potatoes and no peanut free alternative to that dish.

Please be respectful of other peoples opinions. Everyone has the right to their feelings and to express them here on the DIS. Being disrespectful towards others or belittling them for thos feelings is not very nice:sad2:

I cannot imagine how hard it is to travel out of your house every day with a peanut allergy kid. I feel for you and your frustration over the change. What was manageable, has know become a major issue, with a very short time until you leave. Good luck and safe travels mermaid&cinderella!

I love pork dumplings and Pad Thai with peanuts. That's what I call exotic food experience. I like trying different cuisines on my disney vacation. It is a positive change that they offer things other than just meat and potato. Too bad they don't have alternative options for people who has peanut allergy.

I'm sorry, let me re-phrase this. I plan to embrace the changes and I hope you guys who already love the restaurant will give it a chance.

I realize my posts have come off a lot harsher than I meant, so I'm apologizing for that now. I realize now it's probably not fun to have one of your favorite dishes deleted from the menu. I'd probably be up in riots if say, the chicken wrap was taken off Pecos Bills menu. Anyways, I'm sorry for offending you guys, didn't really mean it to sound so mean.

And maybe some people could e-mail asking for them to add a non-peanut side dish to the menu, that might help.

where's the pictures of the noodles DISers? Help your fellow planners out!

Just a comment from those of you who are concerned about peanut allergies...

Disney's chefs, as a rule, are extremely accommodating with allergies of all kinds. If you haven't considered calling the restaurant a couple of days before your ADR, please do. Many times, I have read on these boards where someone with a specific dietary need, including allergies, has been so pleased with what the chefs have come up with for them. I distinctly remember a review many years back about a vegetarian poster who talked about her DH being jealous of the dish the chef prepared for her because it looked so amazing.

And while I am not demeaning anyone's challenges with respect to dealing with nut allergies, please remember that not everyone does have them. It may seem that way on these boards, because these concerns are voiced on a regular basis. But there is also a significant section of the population that is not allergic.

Again, I am not saying your allergy concern is not important, but Disney does cater to the masses (no pun intended). I'm sure they considered the overall population with their menu changes and decided to go with pasta and peanuts anyway.

Please consider calling the restaurant directly. I imagine that the staff at 'Ohana will bend over backward to accommodate your needs.

The chefs at the restaurants at Disney are very accommodating. My son has certain dietary restrictions, and they went over backwards to help make our meals fantastic! You just have to ask. They are very nice and helpful.

According to another thread, there are no peanuts. It's pineapple and red pepper.

Hi
I loved the potatoes and am really sorry to see them gone. I love peanuts, but can't understand that with so many people allergic to peanuts why they would have them in the pasta. I'm just wondering how long the noodle dish with the peanuts will last.

The potatoes were my favorite part! So sad to see them taken off the menu!

P.S. Hi Joan, I haven't been on here in a while.
