'Ohana or Sanaa

Sanaa. Great food, nice atmosphere and ANIMALS. I saw a giraffe run for the 1st time while dining at Sanaa....it may be dorky, but I was absolutely enchanted :goodvibes Sanaa is really a gem in the never ending sea of mediocre Disney dining.

OMG! I was just going to say this! We were at Sanaa for lunch in August and a thunderstorm was brewing up, all of a sudden 3 giraffes took off running! I swear that was the highlight of the entire 10 day vacation at WDW (and it was an outstanding vacation)!!! Besides that, Sanaa has a beautiful view, great atmosphere, outstanding food, and our waiter was stupendous! We are going back next August for sure!

If any of you like fish, get the sustainable fish, it's amazing!

Also, get the bread sampler appetizer, yummy! My kids loved it!

My DH had the fish of the day and it was wonderful and we both loved the bread. Very authentic. (I'm picky about my naan!)

Hmm, I'm going to say it's a 50/50 toss up between both. They are both very good but totally different so it depends on what you like. I find both to be good, but also over-rated on these boards.

Sanaa has gone downhill for me a bit. They have made a few small changes not for the better (like how the Tandoori chicken is served). The service has always been fantastic though, I love getting to go to AKL, and the food is still good. It has an Indian flavor to it so make sure you like those spices. Their bread service is to die for. It's mroe upscale than O'Hana.

O'Hanas was nice too, but not as great as everyone makes it out to be on here (imo). I found the food to be very good with a lot of sweet, sticky flavors. This place is more filling with lots of meats.

Since I love both sweet and Indian flavors, both restaurants are a toss up for me and I think you would be happy with either choice. Sanaa has smaller quantities so if you like to eat a lot, stick with O'Hanas. I found O'Hanas to be way too much food and felt guilty for all the waste.

In the end, both are very good and I couldn't choose between them. It would depends on what I was more in the mood for.

I never had a great desire to go to Sanaa but always loved Ohana. Tried Sanaa on last trip and loved it. As most have mentioned they are different in almost every way. Sanaa is more upscale, quiet with very professional service, Ohana is a bit loud and constantly crowded. Ohana has a menu that appeals more to the masses- Sanaa would be more for adventurous eaters. Very different, but in my opinion, both good.

Ohana food quality isnt great IMO. slimy wings, dry potstickers, thats just the tip of the iceberg. We didn't like it at all. I would go to sanaa. I see thats what you have chosen. Have a great meal!

Glad you chose Sanaa. You won't regret it!

We took 4 to Sanaa on a December Trip. Overall I felt it was "OK", and, a good alternative.

  • Total Price with 4 Dinners, one appetizer and drinks: $150. We had a CM Discount which took us to $80 + 18% Tip.
  • All loved the Naan Bread spread. The price was right, the Naan was fantastic and the Spreads were very interesting!
  • We all got different "Smorgasbord Entrees" and shared them. I personally liked the Green Shrimp and Lamb.
  • Neither Rice offerings "delighted" - in our opinion.
  • I am certain they have pricey, but good, Wine selections.

Thus, I will most likely never return barring a Mega Millions win. Please understand this is our family and how we view things: Budget Minded!

We went at 7:00 in December - despite getting a window seat you could not see out to the Savannah - to be expected! It was like - that may be a Zebra (as the shadow was cast on the window).

There are other restaurants, in my opinion, that provide a better value. I travel to Europe 7 times a year and can find much better restaurants that provide better Shrimp / Lamb / etc at comparable prices.

Also, I did not feel it was a great "Intimate" location for couples. Despite being a slow time - it was quite busy and the majority of two or four tops were inside the restaurant - or - so it seemed to me.

The wait Staff / Management were excellent! Our waiter was quite attentive and the manager stopped by a few times to chat and check on things. A+ there.

If you are fully expecting to spend "WDW / Resort Prices" - I think it is fine. For families on a budget, I am not sure.

My opinions - and please understand where we come from: Budget and Food Quality over Wine and Atmosphere.

Have been to Ohana many times - it is Cheesey. The food is decent - but - lots of it. Sanaa certainly has a nicer atmosphere / staff.

The biggest decision may come down to time of day. Would you rather have a great on site lunch, then go off site for dinner, or grab counter service for lunch and a nice inside dinner. Of course, where you are staying offsie, restraints in the area, if you'll want to have a few drinks with dinner all play in.

Hosanna is a grea, all you care to eat experience that will put at the poly where you can watch the fireworks ant boat parade from the beach before heading to your hotel.

Scannable is a great, relaxing meal. " spicy" and "hot" are not the same thing.many dishes I would describe as "savory" rather than our thoughts of spacey. Never been for lunch, dinner twice and both times over a two hour meal between bread course, entree, and desert. ThA said, our meals typically take longer due to some food allergies.
