Hi, again!!!

Anyone who's been following any of my recent posts knows I'm being very indecisive regarding our numerous restaurant choices. And I apologize!!

Normally, I have our ADRs decided, make the ADRs on our ADR date, & then that's that. (Well, I may tweak a few.... ;) )

But, this year, I'm having a dreadfully hard time deciding!!!!

My new decision:

Kona Cafe or 'Ohana for dinner?

I like the food better at Kona & the experience/atmosphere better at 'Ohana. DH says he doesn't care - he just doesn't want to sit at a table by the railing next to the lobby at Kona again. (Last time, some guy leaned up against the railing w/ his rear hanging over our table for most of our meal.) I think the kids would enjoy 'Ohana more, but I would miss Kona. However, now they're officially "adults", I think they would enjoy the Kona Kone for dessert better than the bread pudding at 'Ohana. Which is funny, because the bread pudding at 'Ohana is my favorite thing there & better (to me) than any of the desserts at Kona.

Additionally, I'm not all that excited about the wait to get into 'Ohana. However, we're going in September, so maybe it's better?

If I do both, it means I drop Narcoossee's.

I'm leaning toward 'Ohana (due to the atmosphere) because it when comes down to it, Kona Cafe is just a restaurant. I can eat at restaurants at home, but I can't eat somewhere like 'Ohana at home. Right? (But Kona's food really does beat 'Ohana.)

So, Kona or 'Ohana... food or atmosphere?

Help!! Please??

I like the food at both and always seem to lean toward Ohana once every trip, thought I love the food at Kona. I enjoy the food at Ohana too + the experience so I guess that is why I end up booking it once every trip. If I ahd to choose between a bew place to try and Ohana, I would try the new place, just to keep things different.

LOL!! I thought if I read this post it would help me decide where to eat! But now I'm torn!! You like the food @ Kona & the way I see it is,there is Disney atmosphere ALL AROUND U when u are in the world. So, if it's not "over-the-top" [being that ur kids are grown] It's always nice to take a break to eat good food. It's gotta be ur choice. I would like to try 'Ohana for the 1rst time, but if I didn't like the food, next time, I would skip it. Maybe go to Kona & enjoy a nice walk around the Poly or something after. That's just me. Good luck figuring it out! LOL! pirate: P.S. I bet this was soo much help. :headache:

Kona, Kona, Kona. One of my favorite WDW restaurants by far.

Only done Kona for Breakfast but loved it. Ohana is just fun and if you get a well timed reservation you can watch Wishes which is really pretty. I think Ohana is a really beautiful restaurant and it would honestly be my pick if I were on the DDP and comparing it credit to credit for dinner.

I voted for Kona because I havent been to Ohana yet and the food there was great.

We love both, but if I had to pick just one it would be Ohana...Kona is great but there are many other places on property that could be just as good of a substitute. Ohana has nothing else like it on property

I know!!! I like the food at both too! (Actually, I like the food better at Kona.) But I like the experience/atmosphere better at 'Ohana! We go to 'Ohana every trip too, but, last time, we tried Kona as well. And it was sooo good! (Except for the whole "dude leaning his rear over our table" thing...) I'm afraid we'll miss 'Ohana!

Sorry to confuse things more for you!! ;)

And, actually, I need to make a slight correction - my older kids are considered "Disney" adults now - DD is 11 & DS will be 10 when we go, which means they'll be ordering from the adult menu. The adult dessert menu at Kona has a really cute "Kona Kone" which is just a fun dessert which they'll like WAY better than the bread pudding at 'Ohana. But, anyway, my kids aren't really "grown" yet... although, they'd both like to think they are!

Kona, Kona, Kona. One of my favorite WDW restaurants by far.

Mine too!!!! Which isn't helping me AT ALL!! LOL!! :lmao: *I* like Kona more than 'Ohana, but I think the rest of my family like the "fun" at 'Ohana better! And, according to DH, "What's not to like about grilled meat?"

And this is a good point... 'Ohana is probably better value on the DP. And it's a really nice "last night" dinner too.

I voted for Kona because I havent been to Ohana yet and the food there was great.

*sigh* Yes, yes it is.

And this is what it comes down to. We love both too. However, we can eat at great restaurants like Kona at home. We can't eat at any place like 'Ohana at home.

But, oh, how I will miss Kona!!!

If we do both Kona & 'Ohana, it means I give up Narcoossee's. Would you give up Narcoossee's for Kona? Narcoossee's is new to us, so I don't know...

Why not drop Narcooses and do Kona and Ohana. You sound like you really want to do both. :)

I know I'll be in the minority here - but I have to book Kona and Ohana when we stay at the Poly. To do otherwise is just so wrong. :)

Besides, you can save Narcooses for your next trip, when your kids will be able to appreciate it even more. :goodvibes

We did Ohana breakfast in June and the atmosphere was not like it was in the past. So, I would go with Kona for dinner. Now, if you had asked for breakfast, I would have said to go downstairs and get Tonga Toast QS.

I was just thinking the same, do both (we have gone to both 3 times but never the same year and this year coming it could be hard to decide which to go to again) and then go to Captain Cooks for a Tonga Toast one morning, we usually hit Captain Cooks 2 or 3 time even though not staying at Poly. We always have a rental car so for us easy to get to but if you are at EPCOT or the MK its easy to jump on the monorail and get there.

We like both, but Kona won out for us last year and again for our upcoming trip. Our kids love the Kona Kone more than anything at O'Hana. They split the wings, get a salad, and then splurge on dessert. I like the food at Kona better. O'Hana always seems to be very behind seating people. We always waited way past our ADR time. Hope you enjoy which ever one you end up deciding on!!

I'm going to be absolutely no help because we ate at both 'Ohana and Kona last trip and are doing the same again this upcoming trip. We like the food at both.

We decided not to do Narcoossee's this trip and opted to do all 1 TS meals. Looking to try a few new places like Kouzzina, Chefs de France and La Hacienda de San Angel.

5 days later... And I still haven't decided!!! :rolleyes1

I'm seriously considering this. DH wants to try some new restaurants though, so I was adding Narcoossee's. But I feel like I'm missing something if we don't eat at 'Ohana. But we really like Kona too.

We are going to try and do both this time in Oct.

We did both on our last trip, & we really enjoyed it! However, the recent reviews of 'Ohana have me worried.

Love the Ohana chicken wings and the bread pudding!

I love the bread pudding!!! :lovestruc (However, for the other food - Kona wins!!)

We're staying at the WL. So it's not terrribly hard for us to get to the Poly - either a boat ride & a monorail ride or a boat ride & a boat ride. Normally, we ride the boat from the WL to the CR & then ride the monorail to the Poly.

What is worrying me about our upcoming trip is the length of the meal at 'Ohana w/ the MK closing at 9:00 pm instead of the later summer closing hours which we're used to. If we eat at 'Ohana on our last night (w/ a 5:30 pm ADR), will we have time to get back into the MK for "Wishes" at 9:00 pm?

Tough choice, but you gotta love that tonga toast at Kona! YUM!!:lovestruc

I'm actually trying to decide between dinner at 'Ohana or at Kona. But Tonga Toast is on my list of things to try!! I just can't fit every restaurant I want to try into our trip!!! :sad1:

We like both, but Kona won out for us last year and again for our upcoming trip. Our kids love the Kona Kone more than anything at O'Hana. Last time, our kids split a Kona Kone, & they loved it! This year, being that they're both now "Disney adults" when it comes to dining, they'll be able to get their own which they'll love even better! I also like the food at Kona better. But the atmosphere at 'Ohana feels as "Disney" to me as Chef Mickey's! But I'm very worried about the wait to get seated. I don't want to cut our day short so we can get in line at 'Ohana & wait for an hour to be seated, you know?

I'm going to be absolutely no help because we ate at both 'Ohana and Kona last trip and are doing the same again this upcoming trip. We like the food at both.

We decided not to do Narcoossee's this trip and opted to do all 1 TS meals. Looking to try a few new places like Kouzzina, Chefs de France and La Hacienda de San Angel.

I'm thinking about dropping Narcoossee's too. But, again, I'm not sure I want to do 'Ohana on our last night due to the time factor. However, if we don't do 'Ohana or Narcoossee's on our last night, I still want a special "Disney-nish" meal.

So, right now, it's either Kona or 'Ohana after our EPCOT (Future World) Day. After dinner, we'd be going back to our resort - so no "hurry" to get into another park.

And, either 'Ohana or Narcoossee's for our last night. After dinner, we would want to go back into the MK for "Wishes".

It's a conundrum. Two days ago, I was dropping Kona & doing 'Ohana & Narcoossee's. Yesterday, I was dropping 'Ohana. Today, I'm thinking more about dropping Narcoossee's.

I have until next Wednesday to keep going back & forth!!

And, according to the current poll results, it's Kona w/ 25 & 'Ohana w/ 24!! :upsidedow

Although I don't have a lot of posts, I have been a DIS-ser since 2005.

And I have NEVER dithered like this before!!!! :lmao:

Anyway, at this particular moment & time, I have chosen to drop...

Narcoossee's.

*cue the gasp*

I know! I know! I've wanted to eat here for years. I just think our kids will enjoy both Kona & 'Ohana better than they will Narcoossee's. Plus, we're eating breakfast at the GF Cafe, so I think I'll be okay.

So I got to thinking...

"... a dangerous pasttime, I know!"

We were planning on Cape May after our DHS day, but I could switch that to...

Flying Fish!

Or, I could just leave well enough alone.

:dance3:

I also think I should go start a pre-trip report so I can ramble & dither elsewhere...

We must have gone on a bad night because all I have heard on this post and from others is how good Kona is. When we went the food was not tasty, came out cold, and the service was very slow and unattentive. Maybe we will try again next trip....
