Anyone who is a Poly fan, we have never been to eat at any one of the Poly restaurants and wanted to try one. Which restaurant would you pick and why? We have a Grand Gathering of 11. While Ohana looks fun, the food at Kona looks much better! I can't decide what to do!!! Help!:confused3

We have dined at Ohana every year for the last three years with 9-11 people (ages in every decade 5-50+) in our party. Last year we did both Ohana and Kona. We will do Ohana again, we will not do Kona again. Especially for a large party we found that Ohana is more comfortable, a better atmosphere and we think better food. It is also great to get a late dinner and watch Wishes from inside Ohana (they pipe the music in) or eat earlier and then watch Wishes from the beach outside.

Ohana is a fun place, especially with a big group. However, I have been to Ohana's twice and I really never enjoyed the food that much.

I go becuse although the food is not great, it is not bad either and the atmosphere is so nice. However, my wife refuses to go back because she just thinks the food is bad and on our last visit she hardley ate a thing. Her complaint is that everything is just so dry. I love my meat well done so it doesn't really bother me. Having said that they probably have the nicest staff in all of Disney World. Both times I went the waiters and their helpers were just so great and personable. They made you realize that you are officially at Disney.

Ohana's has a lot of fans here and ADRs are strongly suggested.

I also think we are spoiled because we have a polynesian restaurant near our home called ("Jade Island") that is so unbelievable you can't even compare the difference in the food. It's a good thing Ohanas doesen't have food from Jade Island because if it did you would never be able to get in the door. Ohan's is popular enogh with the mediocore fare they serve.

I have never been to Konas but my guess is that food is probably much better.

We have done both for dinner and prefer Ohana, the food was incredible! For breakfast I would pick Kona

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like Ohana will be more fun - 5 of our party will be under age 7!!

Hula dancing and all. For those ages - definitely Ohana!! My kids love Ohana and really did not like Kona -- the atmosphere was just too much like a hotel lobby restaurant for them.

Given your age group, I would pick O'Hana. Kids love that place and I actually think the food is quite good. Kona's food was amazing but there is zero atmosphere, its a hotel coffee shop. Its not a bad atmosphere, it just doesn't really have any. If you can do both, I would suggest doing breakfast or lunch at Kona and having your dinner at O"Hana. They are both good enough in my opinion to warrant two trips to the Poly to eat!

We have had dinner at both Kona and O'hana. We loved them both but O'hana is a lot more fun. We had no complaints about the food at O'hana. The shrimp, scalloped potatoes and the bread pudding are worth it alone. I agree that Kona is just a hotel restaurant, nothing really special. I also agree that with kids O'hana is the better choice.

I would really like to go to O'hana again this year but the rest of my family want to try someplace we have never been to.

Ohana's is good, but we think the food at Kona is so much better :goodvibes. If we could only choose one or the other, it would have to be Kona for us :thumbsup2

The food is not good at 'Ohana. The ambience at Kona reminds me a roadside diner. We're not crazy about either.

The food at Ohana is fantastic! Do Ohana for dinner and Kona for breakfast...get the Tonga Toast!

We loved 'Ohana so much we are going again on our upcoming trip in Sept. Lots of fun and we liked the food. I am SO disappointed though that the cheesy potatoes and most of all the incredible bread pudding is no longer on the menu. has anyone been recently who can tell us what the new dessert is? Oh how we LOVED :lovestruc that bread pudding.

Ohana's is great, I didn't find Kona all that great and don't plan to go back.

Really? When did they change the menu there? We were there at the end of 2007 and it was still the same stuff. I'm kind of sad to hear that the offerings were changed.

I think its been around a month give or take. They took away the potatoes and now serve a pasta dish and the dessert I believe is pineapple.

:sad1: I'm crushed. We LOVED the potatoes...always asked for more and well, the dessert...heck, that was half the reason we went there in the first place. What a bummer! Thanks for the info...now I have to take that into account planning our dining for this next trip.
