On our AK day, we plan on coming back after the parade, resting at our hotel for awhile (SOG) then walking over to the Poly for dinner. It will be me, DH and maybe DD4, (she may attend the Neverland Club for dinner). So we are trying to decide whether to do Kona or o'hana. We have been to o'hana's once and really enjoyed it. What do you recommend for just two adults or for all 3 of us (in case DD skips out on the kid's club). TIA!

If I had already been to O'hana, I would try Kona. Kona has wonderful food. We were DW,DH, DS (13), and DD(11). DW and DD split a meal and it was plenty. We like to do that since neither one of us is big eaters, then we get an appetizer as a family and maybe dessert. Atmosphere is rather plain, but as I said food is great.

We usually go to Ohana each trip. Last time we tried Kona and loved the food. If it is just the two of you , I would opt for Kona. With you child, you might still like Ohana better because of the entertainment and games.

Kona was awesome! We ate there the first night of our trip earlier this month and everyone raved about their food. Service was amazing also. A couple of us had macadamia mahi-mahi, others had the pan-Asian pasta (or was it stir-fry?). Anyway, all of it was yummy plus we got a complimentary dessert because it was my birthday! Have not been to o'hanas and probably am not inclined to try it. Oh, one note about Kona: maybe it was just that night but the restaurant was FREEZING! I mean almost teeth-chattering cold...so take a sweater!

Kona Cafe has delicious food - in fact, it's probably our favorite WDW restaurant if we're considering food alone. There isn't any theming there at all though, so keep that in mind if that's important to you. If you do decide to go to Kona, make sure you save room for dessert! :)

Another vote for Kona. The food was excellent, our best meal of the trip. Ohana seemed like a zoo. I know people like the food at Ohana, but I can't eat in that kind of atmosphere.

Another vote for Kona! We ate at both on our last trip (beginning of the month). We ate at 'Ohana's on our first night. We got a bad table (in the back--away from the action) and the food was just ok. We ate at Kona Cafe on our last night and it was fantastic. Have fun!

I vote for kona also, we had the beef medallians in Sept and they were delicious! They serve this really good bread also, and the potatoe's and dessert was all Yummy!! I usually go to O'hana every trip as well, but Kona has a variety of food.

We tried Kona for the first time on our last trip, and it was one of the unexpected highlights of our trip. We'll definately go there again, and highly recommend it.

Another vote for Kona Cafe. Since we tried this a couple of years ago it is now on our MUST list every visit. Excellent food and service.

Yet another vote for Kona. It's one of our favorite WDW restaurants. We have enjoyed all our meals there.

We ate at the Kona for Thanksgiving lunch this year. It was one of the few choices left open since we made reservations late. It was wonderful! The atmosphere was a little plain as a pp stated, but the food was very, very good and the portions were large. DH, me and middle DS had the Thanksgiving plates, while our oldest DS had the Big Kahuna burger and our youngest had a kid's meal. We would definitely go back! We've done Ohana's also, but I think Kona cafe had them beat.

Oh, and the pumpkin cheesecake was TDF!

What is your favorite deserts?
I had this macadamia pie. It was very good. My kids had the kiddie cone, and it was pretty yummy also.

I had some kind of volcano cake where when you started eating it, warm fudge sauce came out the top (8/05). My son is not a big chocolate lover, but he ate the whole thing (and part of mine). Sorry, but I can't remember the name.

I'll be one of the dissenters and recommend O'Hanas. While I agree that Kona does have good food, O'Hanas has a much more interesting and attractive dining room. Many of the tables have views of the volcano pool and Magic Kingdom.

Kona has a coffee shop atmosphere and is completely open to the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House.

We ate at Kona in October because we were unhappy with all the menu changes at 'Ohana.

Kona was TERRIFIC! Our server was JJ, and he was wonderful.

I had the crab cake appetizer, the macadamia mahi-mahi with asparagus and mashed potatoes for sides (I am VERY picky so I was THRILLED that I could substitute sides!), an add-on of grilled shrimp, and the white chocolate cheesecake for dessert. It was SOOO good! And the portions were huge! There was enough food left on my plate to feed another person, and we took our dessert to go because we were so full.

I know DS had a burger but I can't recall what DH ordered. I know it was all good and we all agreed that we will return to Kona on our next trip. :flower:
