Ohana or Kona Cafe breakfast?

Which would be your preference? We haven't ever been to either and while O'hana has long been on our Disney bucket list, the general sentiment seems to be that Kona has better food for breakfast. And without the characters involved at O'Hana, I'm wondering if Kona would be the better value and better experience. My family is pulling hard for O'Hana (and my husband holding out hope for return of characters by May).... but I want Tonga toast.....

Go with Kona. As you note, its less expensive and easier to ge. We've always had good service there.

Kona breakfast is fantastic and a relative steal for the price. I wouldn't do 'Ohana breakfast with no characters personally, the food is nothing especially unique tbh. Meanwhile Kona has tonga toast, the macadamia nut pancakes, loco moco, etc. I much prefer dinner if you want 'Ohana.

Kona breakfast by far. The specialty dishes there are amazing. Ohana feels very generic without the characters. Now with the way they are doing dinner it’s almost falling off the list.

I suppose it depends on where you're staying....i wouldn't go out of my way for Ohana breakfast, but if you're at the Polynesian, I don't see why not.

Kona Cafe! I have done both breakfasts and the meal was tastier at Kona…and cheaper!

It's been a long time since we ate at Kona for breakfast, but I don't remember being especially wowed. Two weeks ago, we ate at Ohana for the first time for breakfast, and it was amazing! We actually aren't interested in characters, so it was the perfect time to go for us. The price really wasn't bad for all you can eat. We loved it!

I would normally say Kona but make sure everyone in your party likes something on the menu. It’s extremely limited, only 4 choices, macadamia nut pancakes, Tonga toast, two eggs, or plant based loco moco.

I had a disappointing breakfast at Kona so I would go with Ohana. If you want a really great breakfast and characters I would recommend Topolinos instead

I tried SO HARD to get topolino for breakfast but struck out EVERY time. We're there for 11 days but still no dice. We're having dinner there instead but man I wanted that breakfast!

Keep trying people cancel all the time. I was able to get reservations a week out so it’s definitely possible. Sign up for reservation finder, but the best way is to literally just be on the app constantly refreshing because the reservation finder won’t text immediately and it could be gone by the time you get the notification. Closer to the date will see more drops, but could happen any time

What did you end up choosing? We are having the same dilemma. I was set on Ohana breakfast but without the characters, the food seems better at Kona...

Ditto!

We haven't been to either for breakfast. Only O'hana for dinner.

This time, we are trying Kona for dinner but I'm torn on breakfast. The reason I was steered toward O'hana was because we usually do Chef Mickey's and their cheesey potatoes are what I need to essentially top. My daughter LOVES them, so if O'hana has good cheesey potatoes, I guess that's what we'd pick.
