We've done both, Ohanas many times and the Hoop only once on our most recent trip. While we love both, I'd say Ohana. We think the food is just better, although the Hoop is really good also. I don't know who you're traveling with, but some people might think the show is lame/just not their style. Ohanas is fun, you get a good view of Wishes, depending on when you dine, and the food is really good.

Hoop Dee Doo hands down. I won't go to 'ohana if you paid me. Too many BAD meals there (after the 3rd lousy dinner we were done)

Went in Jan to HDDR and we had sucha good time. It is funny and a tad bawdy (in a clean Disney way of course) and slapstick humor, i laughed my self silly.

"ohana is a funny one, people tend to feel very strongly about this one, they either love it or hate it, not a lot in between

whichever you pick, have a great time!!

We've done both. O'hanna's was just so-so....the food was mediocre at best, and it's expensive. It's one of those "glad I tried it, but not good enough to go back" type of places. The only benefit was we were able to catch the monorail to MK for Spectro after dinner.

Hoop De Doo: This dinner show is a must do! We loved everything about it.
Even with that being said, I probably will only do this once in a blue moon. It's more of a celebritory event. Even though we weren't celebrating when we went. But a lot of people around us were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries.

We did both locations in November. The food at Ohanas was outstanding. It is also a great atmosphere and is only one dining credit. The food at Hoop Dee Doo is good but not great. The charm of Hoop Dee Doo is the show. We really enjoyed it. THe HDDR is a double meal credit though. You won't go wrong with either one.

I think Ohana is the best restaurant in WDW...the Banana's Foster bread pudding is unfathomably good...the best dessert i've ever had in my life hands down...

Another vote in favor of Ohana. We loved it there...and as the PP mentioned, the dessert is quite possibly worth the trip alone! :lovestruc

Have a great time wherever you choose!

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I appreciate it. I'm leaning more toward Ohana's because of the view of MK and the fact that I can make a stop there after dinner!

As for Hoop Dee Doo, I have a question. Can you drive right up to where it's located or do you have to go walking through Fort Wilderness? I've heard it's not vehicle friendly?

Both places are on our "once was one time too many" list. :scared:

Care to elaborate? Do you have any other suggestions?

Probably one of the hardest match ups to vote on!

Hoop Dee Doo's food is good, but Ohana's food is awesome - best meal we had during our last trip. I really enjoy the Poly atmosphere too - that would be the Deluxe for me if I could afford it.

That said... I really enjoy the ambience of Fort Wilderness - it just seems so friendly and home-y to me, so I really enjoy taking a quick trip over there to see HDDR. The show is great, and even more unique since the Diamond Horseshoe in the MK closed up.

Show wise, HDDR wins hands down, of course, but Ohana does has some stuff going on for the kids.

I'm also more afraid that HDDR will disappear from WDW long before Ohana does. I hope I'm wrong, but it's just been there so long, and we all know how things get rotated out fairly quickly at WDW.

The downside to HDDR is its cost if you are on the Dining Plan, since it's two credits. But, it gives you a nice excuse to poke around FortW, look at the horses, and find the lawnmower tree!

Fort Wilderness does not allow cars inside. You can park at one end and take the internal FortW bus to the lake-end of the resort, or you can take a boat from the MK or MK resorts directly to the HDDR end of Fort Wilderness. We always opt for the boat because it's more fun and scenic (plus we tend to abandon the car the minute we get to our resort).

Either way, you'll have a great dinner experience! Try both if you can fit them in!

Two different experiences. O'Hana is okay - food is okay - not too much else going on there other than seeing the fireworks from the beach and the kids cocoanut races. HDDR is a show with dinner. The food is okay but you go for the entertainment factor. We enjoyed it when we went in 2006. You cannot drive up to the restaurant. The best way to get there is to take a boat from MK, Wilderness Lodge, etc and then it is a short walk to the restaurant.
