Ohana or Hollywood & Vine Dinner?

We were able to get Ohana for 14, but our initial option was Minnie's dinner at hollywood/Vine.

Later in the date, I was able to get 2 tables for 6 and 1 table for 2 for our party of 14 at Hollywood/Vine with Minnie. (really wanted fantasmic, but it isn't released yet).

What one would you choose? Oh

We just had some really terrible service at Ohana last week -- it took two hours for one child in our party to get her chicken tenders! The food was terrific but the service was just really bad. And if you have kids in your group, you should know Ohana's "children's activities" during dinner are spaced out REALLY far apart. We were seated at the tail end of a luau dance activity and it was 2.5 hours later before they did the next fun thing (coconut races). I wished that I'd known that before-hand, as the description makes it sound like more non-stop fun at dinner for kids and instead it was mostly quiet and (for them) boring. Worse yet, multiple people in our party complained to management and they just didn't seem to really care that we were so dissatisfied. We loved Hollywood and Vine - the Minnie's Seasonal Dine was really fun!

I had a more positive experience with Ohana. Enjoyed the food very much and no problems with wait staff. Visited several years ago, and do not recall if children's activities were timely or spaced out as described by jbkean in previous post. Would go back again.

My family and I went to H&V (Fantasmic!) and 'Ohana during our recent May trip. We only had to wait at most 5 minutes for both the 6:20pm H&V and 5:40pm 'Ohana reservation.

Atmosphere and food wise, we really enjoyed 'Ohana much better than H&V. The characters were cute at H&V, but the buffet did not satisfy us, especially for the H&V Fantasmic! package price. The family style meal at 'Ohana was much better quality in our opinion!

I believe Ohana is a much better value for you money. I've eaten at both and I just feel that Ohana has much better food. I don't loathe Hollywood and Vine the way a lot of people seem to, but I just think for the price it could be a lot nicer.

It honestly depends on what you are hoping to get out of your meal at either place. First and foremost, I am not a Disney buffet hater like many on these boards, but I did find Hollywood and Vine to be the most "average" food spot we at for a sit down meal. With that said, I thoroughly enjoyed the food at O'hana for dinner. So on food alone, my vote goes to O'hana.

However, if you are wanting an experience for little kids, especially if they like Disney characters, then it would swing back to H&V. O'hana's dinner is much more of a meal, not really meant to be an experience so to speak. If you have any other character meals planned in your trip, I would say go for O'hana, personally.

To add, this will be our HS day and we have 6 kids aging from 6 to 14. We have FD and hopper. We are eating early and hoping for a SW dessert party that night.

Unless you're eating at like 4:00, I say stay at Hollywood Studios and do H&V! We waited 45 minutes to an hour for several buses last week. You could end up spending a solid couple hours traveling just to get to your Ohana dinner and back. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVED the food at Ohana. It was probably my favorite of the trip. But I wouldn't go back with young kids and I wouldn't travel all the way from HS for it, especially if you'll be booked for a Dessert Party that you need to make it back for. If you were in Magic Kingdom that day, it would be a different story.

If it's your HS day and you plan to be there for Fantasmic or Fireworks, keep the H&V, not the Ohana. The travel time back and forth for the Poly will eat up a lot of time and patience, and Ohana is notorious for late seating.

You are unlikely to have your three parties all seated at a single table at H&V, as they don't have a good setup for multiple large parties. So do have in mind how you plan to split the group for seating!

The food is definitely better at Ohana but since it's your HS day- I'd keep the H&V reservation. Too much travel time to get to Ohana and back.

Thank you everyone. I was able to find a H&V for all 14 at 3:20! Our split seats were at 3/315/320. So this is better. :) Great tips from everyone!

I found Ohana for both breakfast and dinner to be a much better value. Our character experience was amazing at Ohana, they actually spent time with us and signed post cards for all my nieces and nephews.
