So I snagged breakfast reservations for 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's. It's just me and my wife (no kids). Which reservation would you keep and why? Thanks!

If you want to meet the characters (I know you said you don't have kids with you, but I like the characters :) ), all five main are at Chef Mickey (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto). That's the only place you can meet them all in one place. However, Chef Mickey's is pretty loud and lots of movement as a buffet with lots of kids. We like the breakfast food ok.

'Ohana - for breakfast you can meet Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch in a more calm atmosphere - it is a service meal where they bring food to your table - and we think the food is good (love the breakfast bread and juice!). There is a brief parade. We always do this breakfast on our last day - get to see Mickey and Stitch (family favorites)... and rest a little.

For us it is 'Ohana, hands down. But, it is different for everyone. :)

Personally i'd choose Ohana because you sit at your table in a beautiful calm atmosphere waiting for the food and characters to come to you. Chef Mickeys is loud, and personally I didnt care for the buffet. Yes you get more food variety at chef mickeys, but Ohana has everything you need. And its always been quite delicious to me.

Although....i just thought of something....and this might be a game changer......apparently ohana no longer serves bacon. Yep, you read that correctly, NO BACON! If bacon is important to you (its important to me!), then this is a no brainer. Go to chef mickeys and have all the bacon you desire. (Ohana serves ham instead of bacon).

Chef Mickeys is more hectic but it's a buffet so there are way more choices. We ate at 'Ohana for breakfast recently and we weren't impressed. I'm pretty easy to please (especially in Disney) but I like options for breakfast. Enjoy either way!

THOUGH, there have been posts on this board that says you can request bacon at 'Ohana. :)

Breakfast without bacon is like Mickey without Minnie! Donald without Daisy! :confused3 They both sound like fun. Thanks for the input all!

Thats good news! I wonder for how long though? I hope they bring bacon back. There's no bfast without bacon afterall.

I bet / hope it will be permanent. Kind of like Akershus... no Mickey Waffles on menu, but they've been letting you request them for years. :) Disney customer service rocks.

Ohana has a much more pleasant

Ohana has a much more pleasant ambiance. No contest, unless you really want to meet Minnie, Donald & Daisy.

Disney bacon is nothing to write home about, so I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor.

I always do both, but i'll give a quick rundown of the winners of these categories:

Food- Chef Mickey's
Characters- Chef Mickey's
Theme- Both of them
Noise Level- 'Ohana
Character Interaction- Both of them
Location- Both of them
Entertainment (Parades around the restaurant, music, etc.)- Chef Mickey's

Lets not forget cleanliness. Ohana wins this one. The buffet at chef mickeys (from my experience) isnt very clean.

They are oh, so very different. There is something about the sights, sounds and smells of the Poly on a humid Florida morning that I find simply irresistible. (Though the "sounds" changed when they remodeled the lobby...Booooo!!!) I find mornings at the Poly to be soothing and "vacation-y" and so I would chose Ohana. A self-serve buffet with a battalion of children bouncing to and fro isn't how I would choose to start my day. That said, if I had one or more of those children in my charge when I visited, I would go to Chef Mickey's. But without kids, I would choose the tropics.

I think we've decided on 'Ohana. The more relaxed atmosphere sounds much more appealing since we won't have kids with us. Though the variety at Chef Mickey's is tempting.....

I just noticed the menu on the WDW website doesn't list Mickey waffles at 'Ohana anymore. Are they not offered?

Good choice! The atmosphere is so much nicer and relaxing at ohana. For what its worth, i didnt think the breakfast at chef mickeys is anything to write home about.
