:p dinner and watching MK fireworks. We will be there in December and assuming the MK fireworks were at 6:00PM we were thinking of a PS at one of thees restaurants for diner and fireworks. We've never tried eith one. Any recomendations for both food and view? Is a 5:00 PS a good time to guarantee a seat with a view for the fireworks?

Thanks:p

Either one would work I think, but the view at California Grill is spectacular! Do you have any small munchkins in your party, though? [Standard every child is different disclaimer, but] They might enjoy 'Ohana more. If it's adults only, then I definitely vote for the CG.

Keep in mind the price difference as well, if you're on a budget - 'Ohana is ~ $25pp before tip, CG can be double that for appetizer, entree and dessert.

Can't say I have eaten at the California Grill before, although I have gone up and looked around. You used to be able to go on the balconies even if you were not eating there, but last time I went up the doors were locked. The view of fireworks would be great.

I have eaten at Ohana's though and it is very good. You get as much as you can eat and when I ate there the dessert was pineapple and caramel. I cannot say for sure if they still do that as it has been a few years.

Both CG and 'Ohana have wonderful views of the fireworks. However, they are very different in menu and ambience. CG is more of a 'fine dining' place, with the focus on cuisine and presentation. 'Ohana serves flame-cooked meat and shrimp on a skewer while children have coconut races. I'd let your preference in restaurants guide your choice.

I have never been CG.

In 2000, we had dinner at 'Ohana, and we got to see the MCMCP fireworks. It was great. They dimmed the lights, and piped in the music (I think). It was so cool to see the perimeter fireworks from across the lagoon.

I think the difference here will definitely be ambiance and menu, like DrTomorrow mentioned. Either way, it will be a great meal with a great view!

We went to Ohana on Memorial day weekend. We have an eight year old and I thought he would enjoy all the "activity" -
Well, they put us on the other side of the restaurant no where near the dance floor and activities. The food was very flame- grilled as promised with the same seasoning so everything tasted the same. (Shrimp like Pork, Pork like Steak, you get the idea) They also gave you huge pieces of meat that where not very tender so you chewed and chewed and chewed. The pineapple dessert was awful because the it was hard and white - we poured the caramel into the cup of disney's favorite "NESCAFE" coffee they gave us at the end of the meal - so much for KONA coffee - you have to go next door for that. (Also, Ohana is a one priced meal with no options.)
I have eaten at the California Grill before and the dining experience is totally different. Very elegant and you order what you want. A nice salad and the curried mussells for an appetizer was enough for me. I perfer Cape May Buffet (Beach club) to everything at disney because I love seafood.
Another option is Whispering Canyon at Fort Wilderness Lodge - if the weather is nice you can take the boat and watch the fireworks or go to one of the resort beaches.

I agree-there is a huge difference in menus and ambiance, so check that out first. And remember that it's only from window tables that you can really "see" the fireworks. Most folks wind up getting up from their meal and walking outside when the fireworks start, then going back to resume dinner after.
