I have two reservations right now - 7:45AM for Bon Voyage and an 8:30AM for Ohana - Which do we choose?!

It is a no parks day for us .... but I am thinking that we might be able to ride Frozen Ever After in the standby line if we do bon voyage....

We have always loved O'Hana breakfast and gone every trip (2008,2014,2015,2016). Our last trip we found it disappointing - our waitress wasn't as engaged or fun as usual, our seating was awful for photos with the door to the kitchen right beside us and the food didn't seem as fresh. This time (59 days woohooo!!!) we have booked Bon Voyage as our big breakfast (we only do one breakfast reservation per trip). We decided this because we always want to try new things and thought maybe we need a break from O'Hana so it feels fresh next time. We would go back to O'Hana again but request a table around by the windows.

I think the questions to ask yourself to help you decide are which characters are your party more interested in, and how big are their appetites? We are eating at Bon Voyage in August for the first time but from what I understand it is a plated menu with one option and a pastry basket. I am sure it is plenty of food for most, but contrasted with the all you care to eat family style at 'Ohana may be a deal breaker for some... the menu is also slightly less traditional than the basic eggs/waffles/meat/taters that you get at 'Ohana......Our family would choose Bon Voyage if it were one or the other, you don't get many opportunities to meet Flynn Ryder or Prince Eric where all but Lilo at 'Ohana are at other meals and parks. . .

We tried Ohana for breakfast for the first time in 2014 after hearing the good reviews and we weren't that impressed.. sure it was cool getting to see Lilo (don't think you can see her anywhere else) but other than that it was just meh. The food was your standard eggs, bacon, waffles, sausage that you can pretty much get at any Disney breakfast buffet. The tables are close together and it is crowded. Plus Mickey skipped our table all together after we had already been there for over an hour. We like Ohana for dinner but not for breakfast. We will be trying the Bon Voyage breakfast during our October trip.

As a side note, have you ever done Tusker House, Cape May, or Garden Grill breakfast? Those all rank higher than Ohana IMO. The food at TH is really good, there's a lot more than your standard American breakfast food. The character interaction at GG is the best we've experienced and it is served family style like Ohana (it is standard breakfast food though, but it was really fresh). And Cape May always has fresh food (the potatoes with onions and peppers are so good)!!

I didn't like the food at Ohana's breakfast at all. (Dinner is another story. One of my favorites at WDW.)

My favorite breakfast buffet at WDW is 1900 Park Fare. The food is outstanding there and you get fresh eggs or omelettes cooked to order. Plus the characters are cute and the restaurant is so pretty.

The food at Ohana tastes like they filled a tray with pre-made stuff from a resort food court. Our food was bland and barely warm. The dark atmosphere there works better at night.

Where are you staying? Do you have a car? Bon Voyage will be tricky to get to that early on Disney buses.

Otherwise I'm not sure. Bon Voyage is so new that there aren't as many reviews/opinions out. I'm eating there for the first time on Sunday.

I've only done O'hana. Had a good experience. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

I am trying to decide between the same two but for my Birthday! I have been to Ohana but it was 8 years ago and I loved it! I had the best time. I was a little sad as it was booked for our last morning there but I personally found the food was good for what it was. It was just the basic Disney breakfast so nothing over the top. I really like the Bon Voyage breakfast because it is different and I am a Princess.. :P I really enjoy the one on one meeting and you never really get to meet Prince Eric all that often. You are more likely going to see Flynn Ryder then Prince Eric! I think it is going to also depend on who you want to meet, and also how open you are. If you are ok with the standard Disney breakfast then you would more then likely love Ohana but if you want something different then you would really like Bon Voyage!

I agree re: characters. Choose the ones you/your family are most interested in. Neither breakfast is phenomenal so I would prioritize saving time.

We have a TH lunch booked for this trip - will be our first time there! We are going again in 2018 and I really want to do Cape May - I keep hearing such great things!

Pop. It is going to be a total pain. Planning on doing a family Uber (comes with one car seat) and I will have a bubble bum booster for my 5.5yo. A lot of work but I think that seeing Flynn and Eric will be so worth it. We are HUGE Tangled and Mermaid fans :)

Would love to hear how you liked it! Will you post back here?! Please <3

Do Uber's have carseats? I'm hoping to do Bon Voyage on our trip to. We did Uber when I went in Feb and it was SO MUCH EASIER! But this time I will have 2 kids with me. 9 and 7 at the time.

Yeah, if you're most excited for the Bon Voyage characters, then go with that. I was kinda answering based on the characters being equally appealing, and since I can't compare the food yet, I went with ease of transportation.

The Disney buses will take you there, you'll just have to leave at like 6:30. One time I was able to get a Hollywood Studios bus, and then that driver took me and another family to Cape May. But the next time I tried for that area, the driver said go to Magic Kingdom then transfer. I think it depends on park opening hours. Uber will definitely be faster. This weekend I'm staying at Boardwalk, so don't have to worry!

You could also take the bus to Studios and then the friendship boat (or walk - but that may be a challenge with little) to Boardwalk.

The boats don't run very early, probably an hour before park opening, and boardwalk is the last stop from the studios. So I vote for walking, as long as you have strollers for both kids. If not, go for the boat.

But guess what? I can update my post because I ate at Bon Voyage this morning! The food was great, a bit beyond the standard breakfast food, and which adults will appreciate. But kids might prefer the plain food at Ohana.

I think the big difference is whether you want characters to talk to you. None of the ones at Ohana can talk, all the characters at Bon Voyage are human. Also, Ohana has a photopass photographer (only for stitch), and Bon Voyage does not.

Thank you for posting this! I am glad that the food was great! My kids probably won't eat much (too excited) so I am not super worried about that ha ha. I didn't even think about the talking vs. not talking! That is OK about photopass - I will bring my camera and hope for the best :)

Love the idea of walking from HS to the Boardwalk. We are getting a double for the kids so it would be very doable.
