I am considering switching my ADR for 'Ohana to Boma. We have been to 'Ohana before, and have always enjoyed it. But, the last time we went, I noticed it wasn't as good as it used to be...So, even though we usually go here, I am on the fence if I should switch it or not. I have read many good reviews of Boma on the dis, so I just wanted to get any comments that you may have. Thanks!

I just did a poll a week or so ago and Boma won out!

My DW and I love Boma. You owe it to yourself to give it a try!:yay: :yay:

:)

Sorry can't help you. I have both booked for March and have never been to both. Is there anything in particular you didn't like about Ohana's?? I'm going with 3 kids and they are thinking it would be neat to eat off of skewers. Good luck with your choice and thanks.

We have always enjoyed 'Ohana, but when we went this past Feb. it wasn't as good as an experience as we have had in the past. Nothing horrible, but the things that we did not like that comes to mind, were...The service was lacking. Our server was slow with the drink re-fills and she wasn't very friendly. The meat seemed dry. The beef was the best, but the turkey and pork were much dryer than previous visits. (I don't like the sausage, so I don't know how that turned out.) It was also a total madhouse! I know this is a busy place, but it seemed much more chaotic than in our past visits.

Like I said it was nothing major, and we have always had a good time here, but I think it is time to give Boma a try. This is my only ADR that I was willing to switch, so I guess we will probably be skipping 'Ohana this year. Thanks for the comments!

Thanks for your comments. We will keep a eye on the dryness and hopefully your server was just tired that night. We all love the food that is written for Ohana's so hopefully we will have a better experience then you did. As I said weve never been and have heard good reviews about it, also we heard that this is a better meal then the Luau. We will find out in March. Thanks again

As far as food goes Boma wins hands down but Ohana does have entertainment. I would say give Boma a try and then do the parade in the lobby of AKL and animal watching at Arusha Rock with night vision goggles to make up for the lack of entertainment.

My family prefers Boma over Ohana, although we enjoyed our meal at Ohana too. My kids are almost grown (17,21 and 24) and they loved all of the different foods for breakfast and dinner at Boma.

I honestly like them both a lot. However, I'd say that if I didn't have a 5-year-old I probably wouldn't like 'Ohana as much as I do. I would keep going to Boma though!!!

My honest vote would be for 'Ohana, our family prefers it over Boma. It's not that the food was bad at Boma, just not our cup of tea. It's definately some new flavors you typically wouldn't be exposed to. It wouldn't hurt to try it once.

My vote would be Boma. (mmmm... Zebra Domes!)

I enjoy it so much that I book an ADR there every trip. I've tried O'hana twice and the only thing that was great both times was the view, but the food was less than desirable (for me at least). At least at Boma if you don't like it, you just go back and try something different.

We have enjoyed Ohana but Boma does have a greater variety of food. Boma has a lot of selections that you would not see anywhere else. This can be good or bad depending on how adventurous your parties eating habits are. There are still plenty of "regular" selections of choices at Boma. Having been at Ohana before I would suggest trying Boma but that is me. I like to try a variety of restaurants at least once. Both have a good atmosphere - Boma does not do the entertainment thing but if that is not important then OK. As PP stated you can use the meal as an excuse to visit AKL and see the lobby and savannah.

We were die hard 'Ohana fans. However, we had a very bad experience there last week. Boma was still wonderful last week though. If you've done 'Ohana, I would give Boma a try.

WOW - tought call for me on this one!

We all (Me, DW, DS16, DD13, and DS10) all really enjoy both places.

I love the grilled meats and the chicken wings at O'hanas, but the Prime Rib and the soups at Boma are really good. Actually everything I tried at Boma was really good.

Seeing that you have done O'hanas before, I think you owe it to yourselves to try Boma.

We try to do both each trip. Hmmm, If I could only choose one....

Yeah, OK...

Boma.

We just tried Boma last week for the first time - it wins HANDS DOWN as my new favorite restaurant. This was the only restaurant out of 6 sit downs that I left feeling overly stuffed because I simply could not stop eating. LOVE IT!!!! :thumbsup2
