When I first started reading the Disboards about a year and a half ago, everyone RAVED about O'Hana - literally every review. Now it seems like every review on them ends in disappointment. This is my first trip and I want everything to be great (barring unforeseen events, obviously) so I'm wondering what the general consensus is on O'hana presently? Thanks for your help :)

I went for my first trip in May & it was AMAZING! DBF & I agreed that it was one of the only restaurants we visited that we definitely have to return to on our next trip!

I LOVE O'hana!!! About 2 years ago they switched from offering potatoes to a type of lo mein noodle as a side. I prefer the potato so that is my only recent complaint. However my DH loves the noodles and claims it is now better!! I absolutely love it there!!! :goodvibes

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. I was a little worried because this was our first visit and I had read some bad reviews, I'm so glad we decided to try it! It was awesome!
Our server was super friendly and even though she wasn't on the ball all the time her helper sure was. The salad was wonderful, my kids loved the wings and my mom ate a whole platter of dumplings on her own. The shrimp was cooked just right, the chicken was fantastic and the beef was a perfect medium. I can't say about the pork since I didn't eat it but everything else was so good. The dessert was amazing!!

We all agreed after the meal that every time we go back to Disney that 'Ohanas would be a must do for our family. We're going back the first week in January and I'm already counting the days when I can book it again.

I voted better than ever but, actually, I think 'Ohana had a low point in 2008-2009 when we had two disappointing meals in a row (after several years of yumminess) and many others seemed to having off-experiences too. Our meal in December 2010 was wonderful and, generally again, reviews seem to be moving toward the positive so, hopefully, they are over the hurdle now.

I've never been to Ohana but have read mostly good reviews on the restaurant. The reason I never have been there, is b/c I can never GET IN! I think that alone says something. This year I booked as far in advance as possible & I got it!! Finally!!! After all these years, lol!!! To me the menu is different than what I would normally order. But...I not only enjoyed The Spirit of Aloha, I thought the food was fantastic. Many people including my Aunt had said it was horrible. I gave it a chance b/c I wanted to see the show. The food was AMAZING. I still think of what a great time we had & all the yummy food!!! So, to each their own. The way I see it, is if I don't enjoy a meal & I'm still hungry I'll grab something else later. I pick my restaurants by ambiance more than food when it comes to WDW. Good Luck w/ ur choice!!!

OMG...we went 3 weeks ago and it was awesome!!! The best meal we had all week!!! We haven't been in years cause we could never get in. So excited we had gotten it for this trip and it was way better than I remembered!!! I highly recommend it!!!
We had a party of 8 and everyone agreed that it was the best food we had all week!

Ohana was one of our must-do's for about 8 years, but after our last meal there in Feb 2009 we decided it wasn't worth the effort anymore.

We took a 2.5 year break, and we returned to Ohana about a week ago for the first time since 2009. We actually enjoyed this meal much more. The food and service were all good, and the meats were moist and seasoned well (the chicken was especially moist, which surprised us since the former turkey was usually dry).

my family and i ate there on our last trip (sept. 2010). it was our favorite meal. we thought the food was delicious and we loved the desert. i can't wait to this coming trip. highly recommend ohanas.

Thanks for posting this question cause we are planning to eat there in Nov and this will be our first time there. I was worried that things might have gone down hill too, but with all these replies I can rest assure I made the right choice.

Hope you have a Magical meal at O'Hana!:wizard:

Im so glad i found this thread, ive just booked my O'hana ADR after the DH got all excited about meat on a stick being served at the table...lol.

We cant wait to go and try all the lovely things they have to offer..

We're excited Minnies and Mickeys!!!

We are going for the first time July 14th for dinner. We can't wait - it was nice reading the positive comments about Ohana's.

Just my 2 cents, but I thought the food was disgusting, the wait was ridiculously beyond our ADR times (both times) and the service was awful. That said, the kids had fun so it was nice for them. We've been twice. Wouldn't go again though...
I'd still say try it once, just for the fun if nothing else.
