'Ohana!!!!!!!! not O'Hana's!!

They don't make it easy do they Maistre Gracey? *smiles* I think speaking about food is especially difficult since there are so many descriptions and titles in languages other than English.

I was just looking up Citricos, thinking that it might be a Spanish word referring, in plural, to a citrus fruit. That would explain the lack of an apostrophe. I couldn't find anything and I do not speak Spanish. Maybe someone could shed some light on this?

I think I have too much time on my hands! Actually, no… I should be vacuuming, but this is more fun.

No, they don't make it aesy!
In fact, now I am even wondering about my previous post. Just because a restaurant is named after someone, does not make it their restaurant (unless the owner names it after themself). In other words, I guess you could have a restaurant named after someone, and there would be no apostrophe. In that case would there even be an "s"??? I suppose not. If Victoria & Albert don't own the restaurant, I guess the name is "Victoria & Albert Restaurant" (no "s" on Albert)???

Yes indeed....I also have too much time on my hands!!!

Doesn't really bother me.....

Can't wait til I am standing in a line in 90 plus temperatures and paying $3.00 for a Coke.....:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

On a same sort of note....I write out the entire Polynesian for the resort since I read somewhere that Poly means something offensive. Just one of those things....

I didn't know that Jill. I shorten it all the time on the DIS but never in conversation. I guess Polynesian it will be!

Just remember when "you all" come to Texas, it's spelled y'all, not ya'll. ;) ;) ;) (The Texas pet peeve)

According to WDW's site it is Victoria & Albert's.

I plead guilty to making Jiko possessive. Jiko's just rolls off my tongue more easily than Jiko. Call the apostrophe police!

I loved Belle5's answer, too. :teeth:

Well, I have to say that I am impressed with the size of this thread. I thought at best I might get a couple of response from folks who notice the whole O'Hana thing too.

Believe me folks, I have a lot greater things to worry about than how 'Ohana is spelled. This is the Disney Restaurant board so I figure that the topics are not going to be of earth shaking importance anyway. I had just seen yet another post about 'Ohana with it spelled O'Hana and thought I would post a comment about it. It's a pet peeve of mine just because I like the Poly (;)) and that restaurant, so I just happen to know the correct spelling of the word. I do not stay up at night worrying about this. In fact, I had forgotten I had even posted this topic, and then I noticed it was now 4 pages long. Wow, don't you people have more important things to worry about?

Thanks for all the smart a** responses & comments that have become the norm here on the DIS.

I guess I'll just head back over to the peace and tranquility of the Rumors board.

Maybe all of these people share the same pet peve....the spelling police??

Hey Brian, I think most of us just enjoyed the discussion. I know I did. One of the reasons I enjoy this board is because people so seldom take things personally. One of us may love Fulton's...or is that Fulton?...and another hate it but who cares?

Same here, Tikiman (Steve) posted that on one of his threads and it stuck with me.:D

Hi, Misti. Please don't take my post the wrong way. I was honestly wondering if we are pronouncing the name correctly, or if there is a more authentic way to pronounce it.

I understand. :)

I just didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea with my post. :)

A friend of mine will be dining there next week and when she told me she had a PS at Oahu I honestly had no idea what she was talking about. When she said it was at the Polynesian I figured it out.

On a side note, what does "Poly" mean?

I guess it's right up there with the people that say Cinderella's Castle, when it should be Cinderella Castle. And if I understand correctly, some people are offended when we abreviate Polynesian to the Poly. Any thoughts there?
But let me ask a maybe stupid question here....how are these two restaurants pronounced? Citricos and Narcosses (or whatever, I can't remember how it's spelled). I refuse to call and get ps's for them if I can't pronoune them correctly!!! THanks.

Isn't it Cinderella's Castle?

Cinderella Castle

It could be the single best-loved structure in the world. Photos of smiling people standing in front of it adorn refrigerators around the planet. It represents the shared wishes of children of all ages who have seen it on television, in newspapers and magazines, and have dreamed of finally seeing it in person. It evokes the happiness of a cherished guest who has actually experienced the soft warmth of finally witnessing it with a child, with a parent, or with anyone special enough to share in a memory that will last a lifetime.

I'm right with you there! And it's even worse because I'm British - I get them all wrong. I would say:

Sit-ri-cohs,

and

Nar-coo-zees.

No doubt someone can put me right!

O'Boma's?;)

Brian, fear not. You started a very funny thread. (I almost typed three exclamation points at the end of that last sentence but I didn't want to tick anyone off;) )

My MIL is coming with us in October, and last night she asked if we were eating at....Ho'Hana's.
I just thought of this thread and busted out laughing! :teeth:
