Did they get rid of the Ohana Movie Nights? We're leaving in a week and I couldn't find it anywhere on the daily Iwa. Did I miss something?

I'm really hoping they didn't get rid of them. Still disappointed that the Starlit Hui is gone.... :(

We are arriving on Tuesday and was looking forward to lounging out and watching a movie so interested in what the answer was

The guy I spoke with said that they still have them. I told him that it wasn't listed on the Daily Iwa, but he said they're usually on Friday & Saturday nights.

We are at Aulani now. So far no Starlight Hui, no Mahalo Member mingle because of new programs. We arrived on Saturday but there was no Ohana movie listed on the 'Iwa for Saturday night. I did take the Sunset Photography Training Class ($39) with cast member Brandon. It was a good refresher for me with my DSLR. When I fond a listing I will post it.

How did you make the reservation for the sunset photography? I've been calling hand calling the number to no avail, even left a voicemail and no return call yet (left it 2 weeks ago)

I believe Ohana Movie Nights are on hold this month. They will be working on getting the lawn ready for the Ka Wa'a Luau next month. You may be able to catch some of the rehearsals... if you have a room overlooking the lawn.

I'm so worried about this. They used to list it on the Daily Iwa, but the fact that they didn't concerned me. That's why I called, but now I'm worried again. :(

Nooooo!!! You have no idea how much this saddens me. We've been planning this trip since Summer 2015. My 3 girls were so looking forward to the Starlit Hui & Ohana Movie Nights. They were crushed when I told them about the SH, so we just spent an extra $500+ to book a regular luau, knowing they won't eat the food... and now I have to tell them that Ohana Movie Nights are gone, too? We're arriving on my middle daughter's 12th birthday, and all she said she wanted to do on her birthday is watch the outdoor movie. This really stinks!:sad2:

If I see the Ohana Movie Night in the 'Iwa I will post it! Remember the new luau is due to start in November. Someone posted the pricing on this forum.

Thanks, but I've pretty much lost hope that they will have it. The new luau starts 3 days after we leave Aulani. What timing. :(

I booked the sunset photography training by calling the photo pass desk the same day. (The phone number was in the Daily 'Iwa.) I had to report to the photopass desk (in Kalepa's store) and pay for it about 15 minutes before the class. It turned out to be a 'private class' because I was the only 'student'. Good refresher for my DSLR settings.
As for a luau, we just attended the Fia Fia luau at the Marriott Beach Club here in Ko 'Olina on the recommendation of friends and others. It was very good. Lots of kids including some folks from Aulani. There were activities for kids and adults both before dinner and during the show. The check in starts at 4:30. First a photo with the 'Chief' then the 'warriors' went around teaching us to make headbands. Easy and fun. There were other activities including 'airbrush' tattoos for the kids. Everyone was welcoming to adults and the kids and including us all in the festivities. Lots of interaction with the guests. It is only held on Tuesdays. You can reserve starting 30 days out by calling the Marriott Beach Club and asking for the concierge desk.

Still no 'Ohana Movie Nights this week. I will keep checking until we leave this Sunday.

@sasha I just read that @Leshaface was at Aulani last week and they had the Ohana Movie nights so there may still be hope!!!
Thanks so much for thinking of me, but all hope is gone. I called and spoke with the front desk and the CM confirmed that they "temporarily" got rid of the Ohana Movie Nights because they're using the lawn for rehearsal for their new luau. They are showing a handful of Halloween movies, but none while we're there. I just feel bad for my girls because that, and the SH were big perks that they were really looking forward to.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that Ohana Movie Night wasn't/won't be available for you guys :sad1: I should have added, they started setting up for the new Luau event there maybe two days after this, but didn't even think it would be interfering with movie night. That's actually really wrong considering that the movie night was the only other event that was available on that lawn since the Starlit Hui was taken away for those of us visiting in October.

No 'Ohana Movie Nights.
The Mahalo Member Mingle is also on hold because they are working on new programming. I could not get a date for when they will be replacing it.
We did attend the DVC Membership Magic Tour on Tuesday and visited the Grand Villa yesterday. DVC members can take a tour of the Grand Villa everyday at 10:00 Am and 3:00 PM. Just stop at the DVC Preview Center Desk off the lobby in the Wai'anae Tower. I went to the Mo'Olelo Fire Pit Story Telling and enjoyed it. Get there early because it only lasts about 15 minutes.
But then again the DVC member pool wristbands are different than the cash guests. DVC members get the same color but they are sparkly/iridescent! Okay it isn't much but still sets us apart.8-)
