Ohana Menu Changing Back?

I've never had the old menu but from what I understand the potatoes are very popular. I think they should bring the shrimp wontons back...they were still serving them with the new menu when I was there bc it had just switched over. I really like the new shrimp but I do not like the sausage at all....wouldn't be suprised if they change that eventually. But I say keep the potatoes bring back the shrimp wontons. The regular wontons are not at all exciting to me bc I have them all the time at my favorite chinese restaurant at home, so I skip those.

We love 'Ohana!! We never got the chance to try the old menu but the grilled shrimp always sounded fabulous! Like everyone else we love the potatoes! They are welcome to chance back any of the menu to the old style but please don't mess with my potatoes!!!

Seeing as how they are always full, people must not be staying away from the new menu. We would like to see the wontons again but everything else can stay the way it is right now.

The reason it is probably full is that 'Ohana got a great reputation from the OLD menu. Think about it folks; those of us on the DIS are more educated than the first-timer to WDW. Those vacationers got their impressions based on the love many people had of the old menu so it's still being booked solid.

We are coming up on the one year anniversary of this menu changeover so more people are knowing about it. But it sounds like some people have been told by 'Ohana CMs that there has been enough negative reaction to be noted and talked about. If it was a person here or there that didn't like the new menu, it wouldn't register with them just because of the sheer numbers of people who go through that establishment on a daily basis.

I'll be watching for news! If my favorites return, I'll be making an ADR as fast as I can dial the number.

BTW, the green beans weren't just veggies in a dish - they were sauteed with onion and bacon, and had a slightly sweet soy sauce dressing. I have the recipe and have made them at home, but it's just not the same, of course.

Those sound really good. I really didn't care for the stir-fried veggies.

:thumbsup2

and in guidebooks like Birnbaum, UG, etc. they still praise 'Ohana for the old menu, even make references to the pineapple, grilled shrimp, etc.

Oh, no! Please don't take away the Bread Pudding!!!! It was SOOOOOOOOOOO scrumptious. It's the reason we are eating there instead of another choice we were considering for that night.

I totally agree!!! This is our favorite dessert in all of WDW -- and this is the ONLY bread pudding I have ever liked!!!

The plain wontons are great for us, since none of us eats shrimp. Plus, it is a rather meat-intensive meal to begin with.

If it changes back to the old menu, we would probably cancel our plans to go for dinner on our next trip, since there would be too many things we couldn't eat there.

We like both menus. However, my DS 7 is allergic to shrimp so he could not eat the old wontons. He liked the new chips. When we ate there in Dec we told our cousins that DS is allergic to shrimp and they told us that shellfish allergies are the reason shrimp are no longer grilled-cross contamination to the other meats. I don't know if that's true or not. :confused3

We had them bring the new shrimp (we kept them far away from DS). I tried them and thought they had a great flavor, but were messy.

We all loved the new potatoes, and got seconds of them. We all missed the pineapple and caramel, but the new dessert was very good. I liked the green beans better than the new veggies, but you can't have everything!

The less shrimp the better for me. Can't stand shrimp. They are the cockroaches of the sea.

:lmao:

You are so right! I never understood why shrimp give me the creeps - but I bet it has something to do with their insectlike appearance. Actually, I don't like anything with exoskeletons (everyone has a pet neurosis, right?). Once at our local Chinese buffet I had a total spaz because DD and DS had filled a plate with "whole" (?) shrimp and started pulling the legs and antennae off as they started to eat them. I was so worked up the waitress came over to see what was wrong! I asked the waitress to put me at another table until the kids were done with the shrimp! Luckily, the kids understand it's just my thing, and it doesn't stop them from eating them - I do fine seeing shrimp cocktail or fried shrimp or whatever. I'd hate to cause them to not try something new, or enjoy something they like. Shrimp - the Cockroach of the Sea! ::yes::

We like both menus (well, not the sausage, lol).

I highly doubt the "old" menu will ever be back in it's entirety. Menus change, and Ohana will change the menu from time to time in the future, so if you hate this menu, just hang on a couple years and they will change it to something else and there will be a whole new crop of folks complaining that the new/old menu items have been replaced!

I see you are from Columbus. I am wondering if you are my sister in law or if she got to you. :lmao: She just hate shrimp too. In fact, she calls shrimp cockroaches of the sea. I just found that funny.

I just don't like the new menu, because it has two pork offerings - the pork and the sausage. I don't eat pork, so the skewer offerings for me went from 3/4 to 2/4. The apps and dessert don't bother me, but I would prefer a seafood offering, rather than 2 pork offerings! I just cannot eat or deal with pork or pork products. Call me crazy, but I have a good reason for my adversion to pig products.

As I read more and more threads and posts It makes me laugh at how comical things get. :lmao:It seems to me that what is a discussion board or opinion board sometimes becomes (what I like is right and if you don't then OH MY GOSH) or (Im right and your worng)! We all have an opinion and and every right to type it down. If we all thought the same we would look like this :dance3:. I think we just need to realize that everyone's different and that's what makes us all unique. As much as I loved the old menu, it's still just my opinion. And wheather or not Disney changes it back or not, life and WDW will still go on with or without me being there.

I finally went and called Ohana. I spoke with one of the managers there and he said they are NOT chaning the menu back. He said they would be changing some things about the service, but not the food offered.

Sorry all you pinapple lovers

NO OFFENSE BUT....

Of course they are going to tell you NO because they have no clue what is going on!! Just because he was a manager doesn't mean that the manager above him won't change it back or so on and so forth.

...I mean that would be like you calling up and asking if they are going to offer Free Dining again for next fall they will probably say NO because they have no clue what the next move will be.

Sorry this is going off the original topic... but Raglan Road has a FABULOUS "Bread and Butter Pudding"!

Guess I'll have to go to 'Ohana to see how they compare! :woohoo:
