The Tikiman who knows everything Polynesian announced today that some menu changes are coming to Ohana's.

"I heard some rumors about changes to the 'Ohana menu. I got confirmation that there will be changes coming soon. The changes are grilled chicken on skewer is going away. The only thing that will be served on skewers will be steak, shrimp and pork.

New to the menu will be vegetarian lettuce wraps as an appetizer they are all vegetarian with potstickers tossed in a sweet chili sauce.

kids will get a chocolate brownie with marshmallow topping for dessert."

Ugh. Even more reason for me to stay away. I was NOT IMPRESSED with the food as it is, these changes are even worse. The only good thing is the lettuce wraps....that sounds delish.

Well, one less "must-do" ADR that we have to worry about ---

Why, in the world (no pun intended) , would you take away the Chicken ??

Did they get sued !!!???

I am cringing even asking this, but I love 'Ohana and DH hates it, and the loss of the chicken may mean he won't go now. Do you think it would be possible to request just a chicken breast in place of the skewer meat? All he usually eats here besides dessert is chicken skewers, noodles and bread!

If they dont have chicken on the menu anymore, I cant see why they would provide it when asked? Although thats not unheard of, I know some restaurants that went out of their way (but it was mostly to children). I just think its unusual to ask for something that is not on the menu. But I guess it doesnt hurt to try thou.

Could care less about a lettuce wrap, but sure hope they don't mess with the bread, salad, wings, noodles and yummy dessert!

The meat has been fine as is, but I can manage without chicken if that's the way they want to play it.

Disney seems to be in a 'huge' changing mode, and they 'must' make changes everywhere even if they're not needed.

I hope the lettuce wraps (if it's confirmed) will be as yummy as those at P.F. Changs.

Posting from someone who doesn't eat meat, this adds another option. But I will say, that if they are going to remove one of the meat items, chicken is one of the more populate meats so am a bit surprised. Plus they are replacing an entree item with an appetizer item.

So there will be vegetarian lettuce wraps and the potstickers will now be vegetarian tossed in a sweet chili sauce?

I totally agree. I would love to know the reasoning behind this. I love Ohana but their menu is somewhat small. Wouldn't it just make more sense to add couple things instead of taking away something that is such a staple?

'Ohana is my favorite restaurant at WDW. Over the years there have been many changes (anyone remember the wok full of stir fired veggies and banana wrapped salmon?) I still love it. Sometimes the changes are disappointing. I loved the pineapple and caramel sauce and was not a fan of bread pudding, but I love this bread pudding. Sometimes I am indifferent - the tasteless sausages coming and going. Lettuce wraps sound good to me. I am sure if they removed the pork and beef skewers I would be disappointed but I would be open to what took there place. I will have to wait a couple years to return. By then the whole place could be gone!

hmmmmm....if you look at the wording it says

grilled chicken on skewer is going away. The only thing that will be served on skewers will be steak, shrimp and pork.

I wonder if they will still offer chicken, just not on the skewers? I cant see them NOT offering any chicken, it has to be the most popular foods in any restaurant.

Maybe they are looking to reduce the number of people needed on staff and did away with one less 'walk around' item?

Wish they'd remove the pork or shrimp if any must go. I hope the potstickers are the same and they still have the salad and noodles and bread pudding. Like the wings too. I'm not a fan of the bread, though I know most folks are. My family HAS to go to Ohana every trip and I wished we'd skip it once in a while so we can try something new (like Kona). The chicken going may help my cause as DH loves his chicken.

I am a surf and turf kind of girl so I will not miss the chicken. I cannot get enough of the shrimp skewers when I am there. Ohanas is my families favorite restaurant at Disney. We enjoy everything on the menu. Looking forward to trying the new items later this year.

Guess that makes our decision easy for our ADR date in 11 days ;) More ADRs for the rest of you!

I'm the kind of guy who eats lots of chicken at home but almost never orders it out so I really will not miss the chicken at 'Ohana. We'll try the new menu in September and maybe the chicken will be back by then for those who like it.

This is what I believe, as well. And I think it will be an improvement. It always seems chicken on a skewer is over coked in places, under cooked in others.
