I was just on another website and saw that there have been some changes to the Ohana menu. Has anyone been there recently? I'm going this weekend and saw that one item I'm an allergic to. It stated that the dressing for the salad is now Mango-Poppyseed. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

No....please do not let that be true. I got to 'Ohana FOR that honey lime dressing!!!

Tiki- I hope not either. I love that dressing.

Megreg- It said that it was changed just recently. I hope that's not the case. I guess I'll find out and confirm if no one can on here before I leave.

Thanks all.

The Allears menu reads like this

The Appetizer and accompaniment section I have in bold, lists this new salad you mention but the old salad and dressing is listed above. It is strange because we have always received the salad with the lime dressing listed above the bold section, the pork dumplings and the coriander wings with the meal but never the other kind of bread, the different salad with poppy seeds or the pineapple.

Not sure why it lists these things, has anyone ever received them with the meal?

Maybe you have to ask for them specifically to get them, I am not sure. Someone must know.

Hmm, I'm not sure, but the top of the menu has a 2/2011 date which means it hasn't been updated on ALLEARS since 2/11. I've seen recent updates to menu's, specifically about pricing and all the menus were also updated with a recent date. Because of no new date, I'm guessing it's still the same it's always been and I was there 3 weeks ago and we did not get pineapple and had the honey lime dressing. You could call the restaraunt directly?

I hope it hasn't changed, I'm eating there on 9/22:woohoo:

I'm sure it is the same as it has been for the past long while but it seems strange that these other items were listed even on an older menu. I don't know if you can ask for these other items or not , I know they do not usually come out.

we ate there this past sunday and had everythign listed on that all ears menu. I dont' remember anything different from last year for the food. What I will say though is that I have never felt so rushed during a meal. Last year the food came out a lot slower. This year we sat down and they gave us the bread and took our drink order(this happened last year so i'm not saying this part was different). By the time the drinks got back our salad was already down, before we could even finish one little plate of salad the dumplings and wings were on our table. 5 minutes later the skewers were hitting our table and desert was offered before the coconut races. We had the first seating at 5pm.

Also last year they had the kids come up and dance the hula plus gave out leis which did not happen this time. Just a singer walking around the restaurant.

The food was still amazing, but we coudl've been done by 5:40 had we not told the waiter we needed to take a break.

Even when all ears posted that back in February it was confirmed that the menu hadn't changed. There was no explanation as to why the salad was listed twice with different dressings but not one person has come back and posted that the honey lime dressing was gone.

Will be eatting there Sun and will report back.. I hope not tho.. I like mango but not as a dressing..ICK!

I hate it when they try to rush you through. I'm a slow eater anyway and I hate pressure. We haven't been to dinner at Ohana for years because of that kind of service, but we're trying it again this year. I hope it works out for us. Last year, we had the worst service I've ever had anywhere at the Ohana breakfast. I was in tears by the end of it. But my family wants to try all that meat again, so we're giving it a whirl :goodvibes.

I also have an early ADR and do not want to be rushed. This will be our first time here. I have heard that you are allowed to ask for seconds of things but then I have read about alot of people that have asked and never received them. So can you get seconds of something and do they usually accomodate you?

What do you all think the best way to slow the dinner process down would be.

What would be the best way to address this from the get go without being rude and aggravating your server.

We too would like to relax and enjoy one of our more important meals at WDW.

We were just there on 8/8 and are going to dine again on 9/22 (can't wait).. They did seem a little more 'rushed' to bring the food out, but we did tell them we weren't ready and had asked for more salad, noodles and bread (there were 8 adults). They brought us out 2nd servings of all of it. They did have the hula lady/man and the did the coconut races and the lei dancing, etc. We had a later reservation (about 8) and stuff still going on, but the restaraunt started to empty out by 9 and not as much action. I think because O'Hana has had a theme of running really behind on reservations, they might be trying to get people to eat quicker in the earlier ressies so the people who have 7 pm ressies aren't waiting till 7:30-45.. :confused3

If you feel rushed, just tell them you aren't ready for the other portions of the meal.

we did get 2nds of the bread but couldn't finish off the wings/dumplings for more. Also ordered 2nds of the noodles and got them as well. Just simply tell your server that you aren't ready yet for the meats when they bring them out and ask for them when you are ready, they can't force you out. It's just crazy how fast they try to get you to eat now though. You just simply need to tell them you aren't ready when the meats make the first rounds. The other stuff before it will just show up.

Also wanted to say it again, the food is still great. And they have the best beer of any restaurant I ate at which is an IPA from hawaii. If you like microbrew type beers you will love it.

Great Advice, can't wait to get back again in November, Ohana really is awesome but I am definitely a man who loves me some meat. How many Ohana reservations in one trip is too many? My wife has me cut off at two, but I don't think that seems right! :rotfl2:

We will be eating there next Friday so I can definitely let you know about the salad dressing. And as far as the meal being rushed for us in the past any time if seemed as though we had a server that tried to rush us we would make a point of letting them know that we weren't in a hurry and we'd like to slow down. Never had any problems with that request. To be honest we have only had one bad server in all the years we've been going there and it wasn't that he was rushing us..he just wasn't there. We did have a fantastic server that was helping our server, though. He always always made sure my husband had all the meat he wanted to try and noticed which meats my husband liked more and made sure to bring more of that out. I still remember his name (Fern) and that was in 2004!

I'll be there on Sunday so I will know for sure then. I wanted to know of any changes beforehand. Thanks everyone!
