Ohana Late dinner 9:45 pm...questions

I grabbed a super late Ohana dinner in December. First time for us (13 yo, mom, dad)....

Is the wait bad at the time of night? Is it a rushed meal? Is food still hot and fresh?

What are the pros and cons for having this late of an ADR?

Your dining experience will be the same - maybe a little less crowded at that time depending upon when you are visiting. The later reservation does not reflect when the kitchen closes but when the restaurant stops seating guests to begin their meal. Don't worry - go and enjoy!

When I ate there I was super stuffed afterwards, like uncomfortably full. I couldn't imagine having to go to sleep shortly after a meal like that. It is a great meal though, so I'd recommend trying for an earlier reservation time.

I don't want to be a debbie downer, but we have never eaten at Ohana without a lengthy wait- no matter what time our reservation is for. Just fyi. I would be pleasantly surprised if you are seated before 10.

I'm worried about this. That's an 8 am opening for MK, so we will be at the park all day. But leaving by 4 pm. I think we may go back to AKL, lounge/swim, rest and head back for Ohana after a few hours. Then if we're waiting, we won't be grumpy (theoretically anyway). But...if we get done by 11 pm, back to AKL by midnight, are we gonna die if we try to make 9 am RD at HS next morning? At least we won't need breakfast, right?

We had the same reservation in June. We were with a bunch of people that had never been, so this was a must. They thought we were crazy until they ate, and then thanked us! We did have to wait for a table, we probably sat down about 10:10ish. We had a group of 14, so that may have contributed to the delay. But, the experience was the same as it has been every other time we have ate there. The food was wonderful and we were not rushed. Enjoy!

I cannot offer from my own first-hand experience, but likely the most constant criticism I (used to?) see on Dis'Board about Ohana is that some of the meat can be dry by later in the evening - since some may have been cooked much earlier in the night.

I was there last December at a 9:30. We were able to get right in and got a window seat. The food was all fresh and got to see the fireworks from MK. They even piped in the music from the show. It was a great night. Some people will be negative about anything.

We did that reservation last year on Halloween. We got to see the Halloween party fireworks from our seat with the music piped in so that was great. We found that the steak was not cooked enough for us and was close to raw but I have seen that before. Everything else was great and the server even brought me some of the butter from Kona to put on my bread. It has always been a great meal and we have a 9:50 reservation coming up on Dec 8th. We will monitor for a early time but if not we will deal with it. Honestly I couldn't imagine going to a park after eating there. I always seem to roll out of there to my car.

I’ve eaten at ‘Ohana 3 times...9:30, 9:50, and 5:15.

The late night experiences were so much better than the earlier one. We’ve always been seated immediately there, but the atmosphere is very different later. It was less crowded and hectic, and they’d stopped the coconut racing, etc. We were very lucky and scored window seats on both of the late night occasions, and had a lovely view of the fireworks. I noticed no difference in the quality of the food.

We have only eaten there once. I timed our reservations so we could watch the fireworks from inside the restaurant. My oldest children were young and didn't really like the noise of the fireworks...so it was perfect for us. No firework booms...just lovely music piped in. They loved it. The food was super yummy and the atmosphere was great. If you go back to the hotel to take a break, you should be fine after a park storming day. I can't imagine eating there, and then going to a park or Disney Springs...I think the best plan is to eat there later, and then waddle your way back to your room...

We east there twice every trip and I usually get a reservation around 21:00 hours and it has always been great. And yes many times I have skipped breakfast the next day (still full).
