The menu at AllEars says that there are alternative selections available for kids. Does anyone know what these alternative selections are? Thanks. :)

I know my kids have enjoyed hot dogs and chicken strips there. I'm not sure what other items are offered - maybe mac and cheese??

When we went in December one of the children at the table next to us had what I thought was white rice, but it could have been mac & cheese because some places use white cheddar.

We have gotten the mac and cheese (orange, like Stouffer's) and chicken strips a couple of times there.

My DS(7) loved the fried wonton's, all of the kids absolutely LOVED the cheesy scalloped potatoes (think we went through 3 bowls of that), and they all liked the beef kabobs (basically like bbq steak).

DS(7) wasn't so crazy about some of the other things (shrimp, salad, stir fry veggies), but between those 3 items and dessert we had no problem filling him up.

Maybe have your kids try some of the things first, you might be surprised what they will try. I was going to ask for mac n cheese for my son, but now I'm glad I didn't, otherwise he wouldn't have tried some new things. I would try letting them eat the regular items, then if there is nothing they like, ask for a special kids meal. :cool1:

The alternative menu is the Kona Cafe kids menu. I have heard others say that you will be charged the ohana price though. My son enjoyed the shrimp but not much else. We just told the waiter that the kids weren't really enjoying the food here, and he ran down a list of things they could try instead. If I remember correctly they all chose mac and cheese.

Thanks. My DS might eat the wonton chips and possibly some of the meats, maybe the sausage, but I feel better knowing I could order from the Kona kid's menu for him. I'm making my ADRs on Friday and I haven't been sure whether to add Ohanas for dinner.

Another thought - the last few times we ordered kids meal, the servers still asked the kids if they want any of the grilled meats. My DD8 tried a little bit during a couple meals there and by our last visit she officially changed over to eating the regular Ohana meal. So, even if you order a kid's meal for your son, he can still try some of the other items.
