DD15 and I are considering having dinner at 'Ohana. Would you recommend this? Also, if we made reservations so that we would be finished by around 8:30, can we see fireworks or Wishes from the Polynesian and where would we need to go to be able to see them. I also understand there is a "Water Pageant" that goes past. Anyone know the time of this?

I have eaten at Ohana's a few times and then headed out to the water to see the Boat Parade and then the fireworks...It is fun. They have hammocks on the sand down by the water that you can just hang out on, get a drink and just enjoy!!! The boat parade starts at around 9pm, i dont know the exact time it passes the Poly, but if you check with concierge, they will give you the exact time. You will have a great time!!!

I would highly reccommend Ohanas, it is a must for our family every trip. It really depends on where you are seated in order to see the fireworks. We were lucky on our last trip to have a window table facing the castle perfect!!

O'Hana is a great restaurant. One of my favorites. The food and atmosphere is wonderful.

Can't say much about the timing for the water pageant and such but we ate there for the first time last year. DH, who never asks for anything on our vacation and let's me plan everything, actually requested to go back there this year. It's a wonderful place and I highly recommend it.

When I told my kids we were going to Disney in September they yelled, " 'Ohanas!"

I made ressies for our first night AND our last night!!

Check out the art store on the first floor.

We like to go down to the beach for Wishes and the water pagent on the lagoon.

Thanks for all your replies. It sounds like were probably going to O'hanas for dinner.:cool1: One other question...DD14 is a very picky eater so she'll be eating from the kids menu. Is the dining experience worth paying $25.99 for for a teenager to eat chicken nuggets or a cheeseburger and fries?

Talk to your server. Maybe you can pay cash for the chicken strip.
Then you would have 1 exta TS. The rest of your party would have 1 less though.

So, if you did an extra table service TS, everyone in your party would have to pay cash/credit ecept one of you.

Or

Two people could share an entree and the others in your party would have to pay. You couldnt do a buffet, of course.

We've never seen Wishes from the beach, but it was less than impressive from inside the restaurant when we were there. The music was piped in, but they started it late and didn't turn the volume up, so it was hard to hear. Also, the windows were so covered in condensation it was hard to see anything at all through them. But we were there in August--maybe at cooler times of year it's not as bad.

I'm not sure she could get a cheeseburger or (breaded) chicken strips, since I think they get the kids' meal options from Kona. And I'm not sure they could even charge you for something other than the entire dinner, since they don't really have a menu. But whatever they bring her to supplement, I'm sure she'll still want to try some things from the dinner, like the wonton chips, scalloped potatoes and bread pudding. Mmmm. . . bread pudding.

Ohana is the one place my husband will never ever return. When we were last September dining with friends, we had a lousy meal. The shrimp were mealy :scared: , a large portion of the meats were gristly, the sausage is not good, and the service was poor.:sad2:

Ohana is a favorite with many on the boards, and I am always baffled. :confused3 It seems each time we have dined there, the experience has gotten worse.

Hopefully you will enjoy it more than we did.

We went to Ohana last year. We timed our reservation so that we'd be done in time to see the electrical water parade. Dinner was amazing!! I'm not a pork fan so I didn't eat the roasted pork or saussage but did have a piece of turkey and steak. The best part of the meal wasn't actually the meat though, it was all of the accompanying items. The chips & dip, shrimp, scalloped potatoes, wings, salad mmmmmgreat! Even the pickiest eater will find something appealing there. That being said, if she absolutely won't eat any of those things, I wouldn't reccomend paying $30/person for the atmosphere. Most of the fun was the food and how they kept bringing more and more (and the fruity drinks which she is to young for anyway!) After dinner we headed out to the beach, grabbed a couple of lounge chairs and relaxed. The water parade wasn't really worth going out of your way for but I love Wishes and it was fun to watch from the beach.
