Greetings! We're thinking about staying at Poly for 8 nights with kids ages 5 and 2. Have read good things about Ohana, especially about the atmosphere and it would be convenient. Is it worth doing both, breakfast and dinner? Is it the same "theme" for both? I'm currently planning on DxDP, so we will have enough credits for this (so that's not a factor).

Finaly, is the food at dinner well-executed? We're foodies (not in the stuck-up sense, but in the sense that food must not be overcookeded, crisp if it's supposed to be crisp, caramelized if the aim is to bring out natural sweetness, seasoned but not overly salty, etc.). While the menu at Ohana does not look particularly appealing, is the food usually well-prepared and executed?

We have never stayed at Poly, but as you say it is easy to plan to do both brkfst and dinner.

Ohana is a wonderful place for dinner (if you go early before the dinner rush, it gets to loud after that for us).
I too thought the menu wasn't that appealing, but actually really like it.

While I don't claim to be a foodie, most of friends do label me as such. :rotfl2:
Anyway, the meats are prepared very well, that said, you can get overdone beef or dry turkey on occasion. If it happens, that particular skewer has been sitting there a while. All we do is tell the server we prefer a less done piece (if beef) or turkey that is fresher and it is served asap.
So if that offends you that you may have to speak up then I would avoid this restaurant. If you are ok asking for a different piece then it is a good bet.

The other foods, salad is awesome, wings are very good and crisp....got to try all sauces they are wonderful. The bread is always soft and delish.
I am not a pot sticker kind of person but DH loves them.

And can't forget dessert....the best of WDW by far in my opinion and I am not a bread pudding person.

Have never been for brkfst but would if we were staying there.
Personally if it were me I would do dinner first and see if the place "feels" right for you. If not then Kona is a fab. place for brkfst and it is right there as well.

Good luck and have fun. :woohoo:

we've never gone for breakfast, but LOVED it for dinner!
the food was amazingggg and it was like a buffet brought to your table.
they had games going on and a really fun atmosphere.
also when its time for wishes they dim the lights and pipe in the music and you can see the fireworks from the resteraunt.
its really great, i'd deff. reccomend it. :goodvibes

We stayed at the Poly last year and did 'Ohana for both breakfast and dinner. The 2 experiences are very different.

We really enjoyed the breakfast - in fact we managed to eat there 3 times for breakfast on our last trip. The meal is served family style. It was convenient, the food was good and the character interaction was fantastic (they have Lilo and stitch, mickey and pluto). We had a 2 and 5 year old and the loved the breakfast.

Dinner is good. It too is served family style. It was okay, but it was crazy busy when we were there. We only did dinner once and we had no desire to go back.

So yes - 'Ohana for B and D in one trip is fine. They are different enough that you won't feel bored.

Since you're staying at the Poly you might as well eat there for bkfst and dinner. We are staying at the GF and eating at 1900 PF for bkfst and dinner, only because we are staying there though.

Oh, we've done both and it was awesome!:thumbsup2 Breakfast is really yummy here and the characters are so fun. They serve it family style which means they bring out large platters of fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, Mickey waffles and pineapple sticky bread. Plus they have Polynesian juice which is seriously some of the best juice I've ever had (some kind of mango, orange, guava or passion fruit mixture?)

Dinner is absolutely wonderful. They start with warm, pineapple bread (different from breakfast I believe). Various courses follow...salad, sticky wings, potstickers, noodles, broccoli and meat skewers (shrimp, steak, turkey and pork with scrumptious dipping sauces). The best part of the meal is dessert...warm bread pudding, a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream and then warm caramel banana sauce poured all over it!:thumbsup2

I say go for it and eat there for both! We always do.:goodvibes

Although I've never eaten Ohana breakfast, I have to say that dinner is a must do.

Although they're in the same restaurants, it's going to be two completely different experiences. Try both!

We have only had the breakfast. We loved it and are planning to go back this December. Thought the character interaction was wondeful adn dthe food was good. We went early and missed most of the craziness.

Breakfast and dinner are quite different and I think your kids will enjoy both. There are coconut races and limbo contests at dinner and the breakfast has Lilo and Stitch. And since you are staying at the Poly getting to both is very convenient. In fact, I would recommend you also try Kona Cafe for either breakfast or dinner.

Breakfast there is our favorite. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. It is a lot of fun!

It sounds like they would not be repetitive and i should go for both. I'm having a hard time deciding which ADRs to book! everything is good and it's hard to drop anything from "the list."

Both Ohana breakfast & dinner are favorites of ours & we do both on our trips. They are completely different meals/experiences, but both have that great polynesian theme which we love.

Do both! I actually booked two dinners for Ohana because i love it so much . I also booked a breakfast which i will probably pay out of pocket for as just something a little extra. I will be on the regular dining plan though

I totally agree with this! They are very different meals. We did 'Ohana for dinner on Feb 20 and then went back for breakfast on Feb 27. While I think dinner is always good, it's the breakfast that I love more. The food is always so tasty and I am not really a breakfast eater. :)

Have fun! :goodvibes

I would so do it. We have been to both meals and loved them. Ohana is one of our family favourites.

Be sure to try Kona as well. It's also very good.

We avoided this spot for a long time because we didn't think it sounded that great. Boy, were we wrong. It is now one of our favorite breakfast spots and one of our don't miss dinner spots. The food is excellent, and it is fun without being overwhelming. Sometimes you can get a piece of meat that is a little overdone, but they are happy to bring you another piece to replace it. Also, the dessert is amazing. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

We're doing dinner twice and breakfast once while we're there in May. This will be our first time doing the breakfast but we've done the dinner every trip. Can't wait to go!! :thumbsup2
