Okay I have done all my ADR's and now I am thinking of adding Ohana'. The problem is no one in my family eats shrimp. Between the shrimp wontons and the shrimp itself they serve I am wondering if it would still be worth it?
For the people that have been, What do you think? TIA, Melissa

Absolutely! They have chicken wings too that they bring out. Steak and sausage skewers, and I think Pork too, but I don't remember, All I ate was the steak and shrimp. The other sides are good too. Plenty of other meat choices and sides to choose from. :thumbsup2

Sure. The shrimp is a small part of it. I don't think there are shrimp wontons anyway.

Here is the menu:
Starters

Fried Wontons served with peanut sauce, chimichurri sauce and harissa
Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing

Appetizers

Spicy-sweet and sour shrimp
Honey-coriander chicken wings

Skewers
Prepared over an oak fire

Marinated Sirloin Steak
Asian Barbecue Pork Loin
Mesquite Grilled Turkey
Hawaiian Pork-sausage with pineapple terriyaki glaze

Accompaniments

Maui Scalloped Potatoes
Stir-fried Vegetables

Dessert

'Ohana bread pudding a la mode with Bananas Foster Sauce

My hubby is so not a seafood eater. But he loves Ohana's. :goodvibes We are going in August. We have not been since the menu change, so hoping we still like it. (This will be our anniversary dinner, I am suprising hubby with a cake) The kids will be excited about cake also. :teeth:

They no longer have the wontons and the shrimp is brought out in a bowl now so you can avoid it pretty easily. There is enough other stuff that you will find to eat that you won't miss the shrimp.

I didn't eat any shrimp when I was there and left STUFFED!!

You will be fine.

Maggie

I am a shrimp fanatic and did not eat any shrimp when we were there b4 the menu change. Didn't feel like peeling when there were so many other great things to eat! It's definitely worth it. Hope you enjoy! We'll be there in August too, but still need to make our ADR for 'Ohana.

We just ate there for our first time last week and absolutely loved it. They still do have the wontons - they are fried and come with three different dipping sauces. I didn't eat the shrimp either. We were a party of four adults and the other three ate five bowls of shrimp. The food was all very good and our waiter was wonderful. We all thought the dessert was to die for. We certainly be adding this restaurant to places to eat each trip!

I would recommend going for sure! We were just there 10 nights and had a TS at least once a day...Le Cellier had the best steak while we were there but this was fun, entertaining and good food. We watched Wishes from our table right by the window. It was a wonderful evening. I think this will now be a must do every trip!

I do not eat shrimp at all, and when we went in March there was more then enough for me to eat. The wings were very good, but the sausage and beef were fantastic. In fact, when we go again in June, 'Ohana will be our only repeat restaurant (I think - DW is in charge of these things!) because we liked it so much

I'm glad to hear this. We're doing Ohana because DH is so excited about the skewered meats - I really didn't see much on the menu that appealed to me except the turkey.

Neither of us eat shrimp and we're very inexperienced when it comes to Polynesian cuisine. I hope it turns out OK. :)

This was our FAVORITE restaurant!!! The food was awesome and my dh is not a seafood person. There were lots of things to chose from!!!

Ohana's went from one of my favorite restuarants to one of my least favorites with the menu change. In my opinon it went from good to bad and I don't like it at all and was really disappointed

I think it's a real stretch to say that the food at 'Ohana is Polynesian cuisine. Mostly, it is just flame roasted skewered meats. That MAY be somewhat polynesian, but I wouldn't think so. The rest of the food is pretty much basic good old American cookout food- veggies, cheesy potatoes, bread pudding. The appetizers would be classified more as Americanized Asian- wonton chips, sweet & sour shrimp, glazed wings.

We really liked our dinner at 'Ohana last fall- it is on our list of "must-do" restaurants for our next trip.

Anybody know if they still have the vegetarian option? rice with black sesame seeds, grilled tofu and veggies?

We will be staying at BWI. Would it be easier to drive or use Disney transportation to get to 'Ohana? Is the parking outside the Polynesian an easy walk to 'Ohana?

I would love to know if any vegetarians have eaten at Ohana also. I have heard you can request a vegetarian meal ahead of time, but am not positive.

We stayed at Saratoga Springs last week and drove to the Polynesian. It's not a far walk at all. Just go in the front door of the resort and to the right in the back corner are the stairs and the elevator. Go up and Ohana check-is in the far left hand corner. Since buses don't run from resort to resort you'd either have to walk to the front of Epcot to get the monorail and change monorails at the ticket and transportation center, take a bus to the Polynesian from the front of Epcot, boat ride/walk to MGM and get a bus there or get a bus or from BWI take a bus to Downtown Disney and change to a Polynesian bus. Driving, for us, was the better choice. Hope you enjoy the food as much as we did. Let us know!
