Can a 10 year old order off the "alternative children's selections available" menu and not have to shell out the adult all you can eat price? For that matter if our 8 yr old orders off the optional children's menu, does he pay the child's all you can eat? We ate here in 2005 and both the kids got chicken tenders - we were on the dining plan so I don't know how it was charged.

When my nephew (11 at the time) asked for the kids meal he got it--but he was charged the adult dining price.

All You Can Eat and Buffet restaurants charge adult prices for kids 10 and up, regardless of what they eat. Two of my kids were still under the kid prices when we went, while one was considered an adult. They ordered mac & cheese, but our server encouraged them to try some of the other things. The ended up liking some of them and ate quite a bit. Your 10 yr. old may surprise you and really enjoy the regular food.

In my past experience, it totally depends on your server. Once when we went, my wife and I and our two older girls had the regular menu, but my two little ones had alternatives, burgers & chicken. Our server didn't even charge us for them! I brought it to his attention, and he said not to worry about it.

I have heard other posters say that they also have ordered alternatives for their older than 9 diners, and not been charged adult prices. So the whole thing is kinda iffy.

For what it's worth, my 10 and 8 year olds (and even last year when they were 7 and 9) LOVED the regular food at 'Ohana. I recommend they try it! ;)

By complete contrast to another's experience. We did Ohana dinner once, and all of us (me, DH, DS 10 & DS 6) didn't like it at all. In fact, we left there and went to eat elsewhere. The meat (all of it) was very dry, our service was ok..not determining factor and the sides were not what we liked at all. Different strokes for different folks, you should try it at least once and decide for yourself.

Oh yeah, the kids were charged adult price even though they barely ate 2 bites of food total.
