Ok, I made ressies for 7:00a.m. on Oct 21st for Ohana's character breakfast. I will be spending that day @ animal kingdom. The main reason I booked @ Ohana's is because I heard such great things about thier pineapple bread. My Dh lovvvvvvvves pineapple. So, I figure, hey let me try this. We agreed no character dining, hands down. He is not into the character thing. He will wait patiently for the kids to meet them in the park. But, he always says to be in thier company while he is eating. It just does not appeal to him. But, we have dd1, ds3, and ds11. So, I kind of snuck this in. Dh, doesnt even know yet. I guess, I will give him a :love2: when I tell him. :earboy2: I think he may get over it. :bitelip:

Now, reading through some posts. I find that there are much better character breakfast offered. Now, I am undecisive whether I should cancel my ressies and eat at another place. Or keep my ressies @ Ohana's. I hear the character breakfast with mary poppins, is the best. Can someone please tell me if this is true. And where is it. How do I get there? I will be staying offsite @ windsor hills. Also, I hear about a character breakfast in the AK is this any good? And what is, and where is this tonga toast? Please help. I need to make up my mind. I am already way past my 90 day marker. Thank you all so much in advance for helping me out. I really don't know where I would be without all of my fellow Disers always helping me out. I have gotten so much help from this board. Thanks again everyone. :flower:

We love Ohana's. Why are there much better character meals? None of them have great food. I've been to 1900 Park Fare and the food is slightly better, but we like Ohana's because its one of the few that is not a buffet - its served "family style" - I think the food is fresher. Tonga Toast is at the Kona Cafe and is not a character meal. Donald does the character meal at AK (Restrauntasours) and its gotten very mixed reviews over the years.

I don't know if Ohana char bfast has Pineapple bread, could someone confirm? I know they have it during dinner though.

Tonga toast is at Kona Cafe.

Mary Poppins was at 1900 Park Faire at some point, don't know if she's still there or not.

There is no Char bfast at AK (sorry, I meant none at AKL). Altho it has an excellent Bfast and dinner buffet spread at Boma.

I cancelled our Ohana breakfast reservations and went with Beach Club buffett. I saw the family style breakfast, and since there are two low carb dieters on our trip, we would rather be able to get our own portions.

We also like Beach Club, but we arent staying there either.

There is a character breakfast at Animal Kingdom, but not Animal Kingdom Lodge.

there is certainly a character breakfast at AK and it's excellent by our family's standards... it is a bit hectic though... i would say that either of the princess breakfasts (in MK or Epcot) and 'ohana breakfast are the three calmest most relaxing character breakfast experiences because they are not buffet but rather the food is brought either family style or pre-plated... the characters come around to you at your table and it is quite pleasant... character buffets can get a bit crazy...

i think you made a good choice if this is your only character meal because while it is a fun meal, the characters are not "in your face" and your sons may enjoy the little parade/conga line that the characters do w/the children... there is in fact pineapple bread/pastry served when you sit down and it is quite yummy...

the only suggestion i might make is that unless your family are reallllllly early risers, 7am is a bit early to be up, out, parked (assuming you have a rental since you are staying off site) and in the poly by 6:45 am! ergo, i would maybe call back and switch it to an 8am ressie and then if you arrive earlier, chances are good you'll be seated...

also, please note that there is a photographer as you check in to take a family photo so you may want to dress accordingly (our family likes to wear coordinating colors for our photos! LOL!)

ENJOY!

when served a family style breakfast, it has been our experience that you can get more of any item and less of another just by asking... ergo, your low-carbers could get plenty of eggs/meats and ask them to hold the waffles... is the beach club breakfast pre-plated or buffet? (it's been our experience w/the pre-plated meals that you get the whole plate as they are made up assembly line style and then pick and choose what you eat/leave)

Ohana has the pineapple bread.

And yes, you can tell your waitress, "bring a skillet with eggs and bacon, leave the waffles and biscuits off it" We are bacon eaters and have had no problems getting plenty of bacon. We also had an Atkins dieter with us last trip and she did fine.

We did the Ohana's character breakfast and just loved it! They will bring you more of anything that you want. Our server saw me picking out the green grapes from the fruit salad for my son because that was the only fruit that he would eat. She brought out a small bowl of just green grapes for him! We loved the food. The characters were Mickey, Goofy, and Chip and Dale that day. That really appealed to my son too. They had a parade for the kids which was fun.

As always everyone has been wonderful . Your replys are especially appreciated. :flower:

The time. I picked because. I wanted to be at AK at rope drop. And since, I have the little ones in tow, I would want to give them ample time to enjoy their breakfast, and atmosphere.. Without feeling rushed, to get to the park. But, maybe 7:20 will be sufficient also. :earsboy:

Does, anyone know how far the poly is from AK? :confused3

The only reason. I became hesistant about Ohana' breakfast was the mixed reviews I read after I made my ressie. Alot, of poster said ohana was at the bottem end of alot of other character breakfast's. But, nontheless, I surmise from all of you, that it is definately worth it. So, thank you all, for putting my mind @ ease. :wave2:

Switch your days around. We always do Ohana so we can do MK that day. Its a long way from the Poly to the AK - about as far as you can get on property. I'd assume you'd have a car - an eight minute drive from starting the car to stopping it?

We did the 'Ohana breakfast last Sept. Loved it! That pineapple bread is so yummy. And you get Mickey, which is the only reason for us to do any character meal (and now that the Garden Grill has changed menus, and not for the better, this will be our place to see the Mickster!).

We ate, then took the Poly bus to Blizzard Beach, which is right near AK. It wasn't a bad ride at all. Kinda nice to let all those eggs land before the touring begins!

No, still going to Ak. But. I will keep in mind the approximate 10 minutes by car to AK. Thanks again for everyone's input.

Hey - just in case someone hasn't heard yet, the Ohana's Character Breakfast was changed about a week or so ago to include Lilo & Stitch, plus 2 or three other Characters.

We made our ADR for Jan. as soon as we heard, and the WDW-Dining CM I spoke with said she has heard really great things about it from other CM's, and can't wait to go!
