Ohana - Alcohol opinion?

I've never been to ohana before and have seen the rum and pineapple alcoholic drink that looks divine so debating whether to pay out of pocket or whether to just stick with the included non alcoholic beverage?

You can get both.

A Lapu Lapu to sip during dinner, and a cup of coffee or tea with dessert. I usually get a glass of water also, and truthfully, more than 1 Lapu.

if you have a drink when you go out to Dinner than why would this be any different DP or not....

I don't at dinner. Simply because I don't really like to drink alcohol with my meal. I'd rather drink my Lapu Lapu relaxing by the pool.

If we're not staying at the Poly, I would arrive earlier, order one from the Tambu Lounge and just walk around the grounds a bit before dinner.

I generally get a Lapu Lapu or Pina Colava at 'Ohana and a Diet Coke since that is included.

Well, we don't really know that the Lapu Lapu will be included. We know that there will be some kind of alcoholic drink included, but Disney hasn't fully explained what that means yet.

I noticed that a couple of weeks ago, typical as we goin October this year but there's always the possibility for future trips

We always order what we want, regardless of how we are paying. When we used the ddp, we ordered appetizers if we wanted them and skipped dessert if we didn't want it. If we wanted the cheapest thing on the menu, that is what we got. If we are paying oop, we still order what we want. This is probably why the ddp doesn't work well for us, but yes, I ordered a LapuLapu at 'Ohana when we were on the ddp.

Chances are you will have a wait before you are seated so why not pass the time with a Lapu Lapu from the bar? We did this in May and it was nice to have a drink while waiting.
I say you're on vacation, splurge a few extra dollars for a drink!

My bet is something like the Lapu Lapu won't be included. Nothing in a specialty glass will be included, and they'll qualify a pineapple as a specialty glass even though it's not a glass at all.

Just get the Lapu Lapu, whether it's before dinner or with dinner. You'll kick yourself later if you don't.

Thank you everyone. I think I'll have try it while we're there. I think it was more the fact that I wondered if it seemed pointless to spend money while on the ddp so was just going to leave it but seems like a lot of people pay out of pocket for a treat now and again so thank you for the opinions and advice

We stopped at the bar before our reservation. I wanted the Lapu Lapu, but didn't want the huge one right before dinner, so the bartender kindly made me a smaller version in a glass. I plan to do the same on our next visit
