I was quite worried about this ADR. I read so many bad reviews and then the thread about the un-cleaned shrimp really made me think seriously about cancelling. BUT it's always been a favourite - especially on a non-park day. Our other choice in prior years for a non-park day kick-off dinner was Chef Mickey's but now the kids are older and the food really isn't that good at CM so I decided to stick with the Ohana ADR.

SO GLAD I DID!

We started our vacation on a week predicted to be very busy. I had braced myself for an overflowing lounge and a wait past our ADR time for our table. Well, the Poly was practically empty and we were seated within minutes of arrive right on time. We had wonderful service before and during our meal. We were celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary and my brother's 40th birthday and they did a great job making an appropriate amount of fuss.

All the food was very fresh and quickly replenished when requested. We had two bowls of the salad (we were a party of seven). The bowl containing the perfectly cooked veggies, noodles, deliciously sticky chicken wings, and so-yummy potstickers was huge so one was enough (believe me, everyone ate well and quite heartily). The first skewer of beef was perfectly tender and very flavourful. The subsequent skewers were a bit drier - as were the chicken and pork. Certainly still tasty but would have been better if done a bit less. The shrimp I was so worried about was addictively spiced with ginger and only one shrimp was found to be not cleaned thoroughly.

The bread pudding with caramel sauce was a delectable, spoon-licking end to the meal. The extra scoops of ice cream with sprinkles was overkill.

We really enjoyed our tropical drinks too - great bartender! Ambiance and entertainment also great as usual. Everyone loved this place! :cheer2:

The evening was capped by a stroll on the tiki torch-lit paths to the beach to watch the water pageant. Perfect first evening at Disney! :goodvibes

We've sort of developed a family tradition of going to Ohana's on our first night. It sounds like your family enjoyed it as much as ours. My favorites are the start and finish: that awesome salad and the heaven-on earth bread pudding :cloud9:

A great way to start the Magic! We always make a point to get there during our stay, too. :)

I was there twice in 4 days in 2009 after reading reviews on here and it was great. But since they canceled Turkey did not eat there on my 2010 Christmas trip. Will be goin there next time for sure.

We always go our first night also, but this year we are going on the second night because of our Backstage Magic Tour. Thought O'hana would be a perfect ending to a wonderful day.

We love Ohanas, its our first night meal traditionaly as well. Never had bad service or food! Meats were a bit dry in 2008 from over cooking but still everything else was great and I now just ask server to make sure our meat isnt over cooked..
