I reserved the two weekend nights during the first week of December a couple months ago. The dates were like 12/4,5,6,7, within a day or two. I wanted a four night weekend, but the OKW GV was not available for the Thur or Sun nights, so I reserved the weekend and waitlisted. I have been on the waitlist since then. I guess it was about ten months out.

I had been calling to check on the waiting list to no avail. About a month ago, I asked about the following weekend, not available. I waitlisted for the Thur and Sun nights.

They came through!!!!

I would have prefered the earlier weekend, but the 12-16?? will have to do. A lot of points for four days, 260 or so, it doesn't feel so bad when the weekend nights are two out of twelve, when it is two out of four, it feels more expensive.

I am starting to be in favor of evening out the weekdays and weekends.....but I may not live in Florida forever and the twelve night stays that I prefer would cost me more points. I wish the would even them out for as long as I live in Florida and then go back if I move to New York again.

Congratulations on the waitlist coming through. Did they call you to let you know? We have a dedicated 2 bedroom for 5 nights over Thanksgiving but are on the waitlist for Thanksgiving night (currently have a lock out but hate to have to move for the last night). I wonder about the weekend nights and occupancy. I wonder how many people avoid the weekends due to points. We are using one weekend night on points but moving to POFQ our last night for sentimental reasons and because points are so high the Fri after Thanksgiving. (We are new members and just don't want to borrow yet:) ).

Now, now Rich, you're not suggesting that they change everything after you signed your contract and knowing how the points are distributed?;) ;) ;)

I'm happy that the waitlist came through for you.:)

Congratulations on the waitlist coming through (why didn't you book eleven months out? You know how the first few weeks of December go! Anyways, I have to agree, the weekends aren't so bad when you have a ten or twelve night stay... that's what we do...

Actually, I really made a mistake. I was so happy to find those "missing" points that I made a expensive point reservation for the AKL concierge for an October stay. My sister and her family and her in-law familys are going to be there, so I figured a quick trip would be nice.

A few months later I started getting friendly with a long time, very well connected client. I started to get invited to some swanky Miami partys, some very nice resturuants(I should learn how to spell that), fishing trips on the yacht, and I started to pick up some real high end clients. I figure that a real good turn would be to invite him and his family for a Grand Villa stay at OKW in early December.

Glad the wait list came through for you, Rich!

Well Rich, from now on, plan on getting friendly with your clients 11 months out for your booking preference :D Have a good time at the AKL & definitely do the sunrise safari!!!
