*oh those disney memories! *

We walk off the monorail into the lobby of the Polynesian and my 9 year old son turns to me and says, "Why do I feel like I just came home?"

How's that?

Hi Gang

Ok got another one from our first family trip in 2003. It was my DW and DS3 and myself (and DD barely in utero).

It was our first trip as a family and we were all so excited to be going to WDW. For us a trip like this is a real special treat. Coming from Canada and our household income this is hard to do. Anyway, I was lucky enough to be travelling to an engineering conference for work that just so happened to be just outside of WDW. We did our homework and got a great rate at the Swan with club level priviledges for $179. My boss said there was no problem with me staying there and travelling to the conference. So we did and added an extra 6 days on our bill for a total of 12 days at WDW!

So the story begins... we finally get to the Swan after a long day of airport travelling... 4am to 7pm. We're tired and exhausted. So we get to our king room and it's really very nice but we realize that it's the first room right beside the elevator. Not good for sleeping especially for a pregnant lady with the sound and the dinging. The hotel was really busy and we were really tired so we decide to get a new room the next day. So we finally get settled around 9:30pm. However our son is WAY over tired and crabby. So we get his bed set up (the pull out sofa) and realize there are no sheets. We call the the front desk and request the sheets. At approx 12am the sheets arrive after repeated calls. Hmpf. Our son now collapsed on our bed and now we're cranky. So the sheets go on his bed and he goes in his new bed. We now go to bed and chalk it up to a very very long day.

This is where the magic happens....

I wake up and the sun is shining. I'm in an awesome mood. We're in Walt Disney World! My son is up and he's just beaming. But my DW is nowhere to be seen. So we wait and wait. So finally she comes back to the room. She's got a smile on her face and she says "I have good news and bad news". Ok. So I ask what's the bad news and she says she got about 2 hours of sleep from the noise of the elevator and people walking by etc, etc...

Just as a side note we are the type of people who rarely complain, we enjoy life the way it is and try to get along with everyone.

That being said, I say to my DW that I'm sorry she got such a crummy sleep. She should have woke me up for some company. Just being her she let us sleep. So.... her night was not great at all. Overtired from the day, pregnant, can't get to sleep from the elevator and people, frustrated and cranky.... she goes down to the front desk to see if she can get our room moved at 4am. Knowing her she'd ask in the nicest way possible.

So she says to me, "I've got us moved to a new room, let's go check it out.". So we do. We go up the elevator and to the end of the hall on the Epcot side of the Swan. She turns left to open the door and says "I think you're going to like this room". She opens the door and the room is huge (yes HUGE). It's almost 2 rooms in one!!! My mouth drops and my son starts running around jumping up and down. We're in the corner suite of the Swan!!! Our little family!!!!

I'm dumbfounded and manage to say "Uuuuuuh how the heck did you get this?". I quickly look behind the door and realize that were standing in a $1200 dollar a night room. I'm now speechless but manage to say "How long did we get this room for.". My DW says for the REST OF OUR STAY!!!! We get another 10 nights in the room at WDW. Wow.

The night manager was SO SO nice and felt really bad for my wife. All she asked was to move our room away from the elevator. He heard her story and immediately moved us to this awesome room. Wow what a great guy. We were so happy. The room was huge with an awsome view of the nighly Epcot fireworks.

It was SO magical. I still think about that trip every other day. My son will forever remember his stay at the WDW Swan and Walt Disney World. :)

Just wanted to share,
Andy

It may not be my favorite memory (how can I choose just one?!) but last year on vacation with my sister, aunt, and cousin waiting for my sister/best friend who I hadn't seen for 8 months to arrive from a different flight. Knowing that I was going to spend a week with her in the happiest place on earth still brings tears to my eyes.

My very WDW favorite memory of all time.

We didn't realize Toontown wasn't open yet and we took the train there- only to have to wait on the other side of a rope until it did. Right before it opened Alice walks over to us and asks my daughter a question (which she answered right)- so Alice says that she has a special job for her to do- open Mickey's house! Our whole family walked up to Mickey's house and Alice gives my dd a golden key to hold while she knocks on the door. When she knocks Mickey opens the door and our family was treated to a tour of Mickey's house by Mickey himself. He showed us everything about the house and then we walked with him into the picture area for a few pictures. It was amazing and a truly once in a lifetime event! I get teary just thinking about it again. :goodvibes
