OH The Horror! Scary Clowns, Haunted Houses, Scare Zones, Monsters, Pumpkins, Crooked Cats, Creepy Bears, Shopping, Dining and more….My HHN 34 Trip

IMG_5785.jpeg

This was a nice display in the center of the bigger part of the regular store. The designers always do such a great job with the designs in the stores.

I was beginning to wonder if the stained glass design theme here was going to play out in the houses and other areas of HHN.
IMG_5786.jpeg

IMG_5789.jpeg

IMG_5790.jpeg

There was more of the Mel’s D-i-e-in merchadise.
IMG_5793.jpeg

IMG_5795.jpeg

After I was done looking around the store I decided to walk through the Hollywood section of the park.

This was one of the props in the Masquerade Dance of Death Scare Zone
IMG_5800.jpeg

Then I decided to stop in the Five and Dime.
IMG_5801.jpeg

The Five and Dime also had some costumes from Dark Universe.

After we left the Five and Dime my sister K and I looked at the times for the Horror Make Up show. It had been awhile since we had seen the show so we decided to go in and see it again.

IMG_5806.jpeg

They do have some nice displays to look at while you are waiting in the lobby.

Then it was onto having a look at what I felt was going to be the best Scare Zone for this years HHN.

IMG_5831.jpeg

It was so nice that they set up these pictures with the story of the Cat Lady of Crooked Lane.

It was so wonderful to see the Pumpkins laying around and hanging it the trees. There is nothing that says Halloween like pumpkins. This was sadly missing from the decorations in last years HHN.

This was the first time I had seen a Scare Zone within a Scare Zone so to speak. They had set up a wooden structure to walk through that had a Cat scratching post at the entrance. This little walk through was located at the end of the bigger Zone covered by the trees with all the Pumpkins hanging in them.

IMG_5844.jpeg

Whoever thought of this ScareZone did a great job.

IMG_5843.jpeg

Then there was the Cat Lady’s House. Wowwwww….. I was looking forward to seeing this scare zone in the dark.
IMG_5845.jpeg

IMG_5847.jpeg

Over to the right side of the house was a little Cat Cemetery.

After we were done walking through the Crooked Cat Lady Scare Zone we turned right and walked towards DreamWorks Land. My sister K had not seen the Land yet.
IMG_5849.jpeg

First we stopped and rode one of my nostalgic favorite rides at Universal Studios….ET…IMG_5850.jpeg
Drew Barrymore was so cute. Steven Spielberg really created a classic with ET.

Shrek was out greeting everyone and folks were in line to take photos with him.
IMG_5854.jpeg

I had told my sister about the Trolls Treats Boombox. One of nicest treats in the park is sold there.
IMG_5855.jpeg

The Poppy-licious Pink lemonade soft serve with flower Sprinkles. It is delicious. They also have a BroZone berry flavored soft serve too.
IMG_5856.jpeg

Needless to say we both got one. It was so refreshing on a hot day.

After we were done n DreamWorks land we walked by the food booth area near Animal Actors. This is were the Feline Treats booth was.

I had seen some reviews online and some folks really liked the walking tacos and some Perferred the Ramen. I also heard that some of booths would be open for day guest to purshcase food, but this one wasn’t.
IMG_5858.jpeg

IMG_5862.jpeg

We were still enjoying our ice cream so we walked down near the water behind Duffs Brewery and sat at a table and finished our ice cream.

It was funny as I had sat down at these tables before and had never noticed the Dragons tail in Diagon Alley sticking up above the building across the water….I had to chuckle to myself a bit….as how can you not see that tail…..

When we were done we made our way past the Simpsons ride over to the bridge that leads to Diagon Alley.
IMG_5865.jpeg

We passed the Jason Camp Crystal Lake food booth.
IMG_5866.jpeg

IMG_5867.jpeg

There were a lot of people standing around waiting for Kreacher to open the curtain.
IMG_5869.jpeg

We took a stroll through Diagon Alley. It was pretty busy with people milling around.
IMG_5871.jpeg

I do enjoy getting a photo of the Dragon on the bank when walking through.
IMG_5873.jpeg

IMG_5874.jpeg

Then we did a quick stroll through Knockturn Alley and it was time to move on.
IMG_5875.jpeg

We stopped into the San Frincisco Candy Factory. I loved the huge Pumpkins with the Witch hats on them outside the store.
IMG_5878.jpeg

I had never seen clothing for sale in the Candy Factory. There was a nice Lil Boo merchandise display.
IMG_5879.jpeg

IMG_5882.jpeg

This store also sold the Lenticular photo of Lil Boo.

Inside the Candy Factory there were also some FIve Nights At Freddy’s merchadise.
IMG_5899.jpeg

I had noticed a number of people purchasing the various fans that were on offer for this years HHN.
IMG_5900.jpeg

I had not seen the Cherry Clown Cafe Cotton Candy.
IMG_5901.jpeg

Or popcorn.
IMG_5902.jpeg

IMG_5903.jpeg

There was a nice display of Halloweeen earrings too.

We stopped in to Louie’s to have a look around. There was a Five Night at Freddy’s photo op inside Louie’s. The menu for HHN food on offer at Louie’s was not up for day guests to purchase. It is only up for HHN.
IMG_5908.jpeg

I stopped into the extremely scaled down Tribute Store and had look around. I was disappointed in this smaller version of a Tribute Store. This is what happens when you raise the bar with your design talent on the Tribute Stores yearly then present a sad excuse for a Tribute Store. People are for sure going to notice.

The entry and exit at the location that usually houses the Tribute Store in New York section of the park was not blocked by the dismantling of the RRR. So not sure why they did not do a better job with Tribute Store and have it in the normal location.
IMG_5909.jpeg

IMG_5910.jpeg

IMG_5911.jpeg

We saw this sipper for sale at one of the soda stands.
IMG_5907.jpeg

Then when we came out of Louie’s the Mega Movie Parade was coming along and we stopped to have a look at he parade.

We stopped by Jimmy Fallon shop to pick up our AP magnet and pen.
IMG_6561.jpeg

Then continued on our way out of the park.

We stopped at the Universal Sweets Shop and had a look around.

I always enjoy seeing what desserts the Chefs come up with for HHN.

IMG_5963.jpeg

While we had been out looking through shops and enjoying some rides. I had been intently looking for any of the Hami-Kuma bear merchandise that I had seen would be showing up at Universal Orlando and Universal Hollywood during this year for HHN.

The Hami-Kuma bear was a character that was created for HHN Japan.

Hami-means protruding or sticking out (the bears intestines) and Kuma means bear. He is also referred to as Zombie Bear.

IMG_6341.jpeg

From what I had seen there are four little mini bears and other merchandise. I had asked the guys at the small Tribute Store if they had seen any of the Hami-Kuma merchandise and they said no. Also I had not seen it in any of the shops or kiosks.

My sister K bought a carmel apple in Universal Sweet shop and while we were talking to the staff one of the guys had one of the Little Hami-Kuma bears hanging from his belt and we started talking about them. I asked him where he found his and he said the Five & Dime.

He said they were located on a small section of the wall when you were let of the Bourne show on the right side. I had not looked over there when I quickly perused the store before.

The lady at the register called over to the Five & Dime and said they had plenty right now. I thanked the staff at the Sweet Shop and we walked over to the FIve & Dime.

This gave me a great opportunity to see one of my favorite shop TM’s Essie. As soon as we saw each other a welcoming hug it was. She is one of the nicest people. She always has a smile on her face and she is so helpful and kind to everyone.

We visited for a few minutes. The store was busy so we found our way over to the Hami-Kuma display.

I bought a couple of the little bears and decided I would check by to see if they added any more merch over the course of the time I would be in the park.
IMG_6309.jpeg

There were also shirts, buttons, hats and cute little purses.

It was now time to head out of the park. So we made our way to the boats for the trip back to Portofino.

It was so nice not to have to wait long for the water taxi to arrive.

When we got back to the resort I had a look in lobby and took a couple of photos.

IMG_5981.jpeg

This was Portofino’s HHN display.
IMG_5982.jpeg

After a couple of photos I was ready to head the room.

My sister and I took turns in the bathroom for a nice shower.

It would be nice to relax in the room before dinner.

Before long we headed down to the club lounge for dinner.

Once you have made your reservations for Club level room online or by calling the Universal reservation line. You will receive a welcome from the Club Lounge/Concierge a few days before your stay welcoming you and asking if you have any special dietary needs or allergies. They also attach the a week long menu.

There are plenty of options to choose from for dinner at Portofino Club Lounge. All the food is displayed so nicely.

There is a salad area with two different lettuce options, tomatoes and other toppings, different cheeses, another specialty salad, croutons, salad dressings, various breads and cheeses and cold meats, and crackers.

You could make a meal from the salad area alone.

There is a different soup option each evening, hot meat carving station or pasta station, veggies, potatoes, rolls etc.

There is a children’s specialty item every evening. I had seen Mac & Cheese, Corn dogs, chicken nuggets etc...

Also during the dinner hour from 5 until 7 every evening you had many wine choices, beer and a couple of other options to enjoy.

There is ice and cold drinks to choose from in the refrigerator.

The coffee machines and tea selection area are available at all times while the Club lounge is open.

You will not be disappointed in the food options at the Club Lounge during your stay.

It is presented elegantly and they have some of the nicest staff there.

After dinner we headed up to watch a little TV and at 8:30 pm we wondered down to the Lounge to get a look at the dessert offerings.

I did try one of the mini cannoli and it was really good.
IMG_5983.jpeg

IMG_5985.jpeg

There are chocolate chip cookies and milk every evening during dessert and this goes over with all ages especially the little ones.
IMG_5984.jpeg

We went back up to the room and enjoyed a quiet night, We both called our hubby’s to see how things were going at home.

I was soon ready for bed. I was going to say I jumped into bed and was fast asleep, but at my age I will say I crawled into bed….LOL…..I think I was out before my head hit the pillow.

My sister K always tells me that when she looks over from her bed I’am out. She always teases me that I fall asleep quicker then anyone she has seen….LOL

What can I say. If I get exercise walking in the heat, have a nice shower, enjoy the cool AC, eat a good dinner….I’am out.

Tuesday, September 9th

Woke up early and decided to check on what was happening in World on my IPAD.

I got in the shower and got dressed. Not long after my sister was up and ready and we went down to Lounge for breakfast.

The breakfast is presented as nicely as dinner. There are so many options to choose from.

After breakfast we decided to go over to the Vineland Outlet Mall to have a look around.

My sister K is a big Disney fan so we stopped into the Disney Character Warehouse to have a look around.

There was some nice Haunted Mansion merchandise for sale.
IMG_6014.jpeg

IMG_6012.jpeg

IMG_6010.jpeg

My sister K had bought this Haunted Mansion chest set for her daughter awhile ago.
IMG_6011.jpeg

I did have a look in Coach, Gucci, Tory Burch, MCM, Kate Spade and Vera Bradley I did not find anything I wanted.

My sister K did find a few things she liked in the Disney Warehouse.

We enjoyed walking around and looking in all the shops.

After we were done walking around the outlet Mall we decided to head over to the Mall at Millenia.

If you have never been to this Mall it is a beautiful Mall with some typical Mall stores as well as some high end shopping stores. Some of the big anchoring stores are Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales. There are two Starbucks and some nice choices for places to eat while you are shopping in the food court.
IMG_6033.jpeg

Not long after we arrived and found a parking space the heavens opened up and it absolutely rained buckets.

We stayed in the SUV and felt it would be better to wait out the deluge of water. As we felt nothing would prevent us from getting soaking wet.

After awhile the rain had calmed enough to make the walk to the Cheesecake Factory door.

We decided to to have lunch at Cheesecake. The Cheesecake Factory has always been such a solid place for food. The service and food choices are pretty impressive.

We started our lunch with the Crab Wontons. I did not get a picture of those, but found one online.
IMG_6655.jpeg
These are so good and always served piping hot. The Chili Sauce has just a hint of heat and is very good.

I always order pretty much the same thing when I eat lunch here because it is so good. It is the Rene’s Special. I get the Mexican Veggie soup and it comes with a small salad (either a Ceaser or House Salad) and choice of a half Chicken Salad Sandwich of Half Turkey Sandwich.

Today I decided I needed to change things up and ordered the Club Sandwich.IMG_6028.jpeg

The sandwich was big and hearty for sure. This portion is definitely shareable. I could not finish it, but enjoyed the sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and tasty.

My sister K ordered the Mac & Cheese Burger which was a charbroiled burger topped with a large ball of fried Mac & Cheese. K said it was good, but she could not finish her meal either. They do not skimp on the portion size here.
IMG_6031.jpeg

After lunch we had a walk around the Mall looking in some of the shops.

I popped into Tiffany to look around and made a purchase and had them ship it to my home.

After we were done at the Mall we headed back to Portofino.

After we got back to the room I took a nice shower and got into some comfy clothes.

K then took her shower and got into some comfy clothes and we both looked on our phones to see what was happening in the World.

I took a small nap.

Before long it was time for dinner. We went down to have a look and I decided to make a nice salad and enjoyed that for my dinner.

The Staff in the Lounge are so nice and do stop by your table to make sure you are enjoying your meal.

They keep the tables cleaned and the food refreshed.

After dinner we went back to the room and K spoke with our older sister D to see what days might work for her to come for a visit.

She lives in Harmony Florida and always tries to make the trip over to Portofino for a visit.

It is always so nice when the three of us sisters can get together. We are all getting older and it is so nice when we can spend some time with one another.

We watched some TV and then it was time for me to get to bed. I had my Unmasking the Horror Tour in the morning.
