Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. Having had some time to think about the race, I'm less disappointed than I was. Much of my disappointment came from the fact that I really wanted to run Boston in 2009 because it fell on my birthday. I just thought that would be a great way to celebrate my 1/2 way to 90 bday. Now that I've allowed myself to think that it would be just as cool to run it the following year or the year after that I'm less bummed about it.

Thanks Cruella for your wise words about not being soured from running. I will definitely take that to heart.

Thanks Carol for letting me know about that option. I think I've decided if I get in I want to come straight thru the front door and not take a spot away from someone who actually did accomplish the requirement.

Thanks again everyone, you've really helped me deal with this bump in the road.
