Just days to go and my mom broke her toe. I am envisioning dragging her down miles of hallways thru BWV.

I think I may call MS and see if they can help, but I don't know what to ask for. I have a standard 2 bedroom booked. We will have our own cars, but really planned on using Disney transportation. While at BWV we were going to stick to MGM and Epcot. One night at DTD. Lots of pool time is built in the schedule.

The second part of our trip is to VWL which is much smaller, but we plan on doing MK most of the time. What 2 bedroom is closest to the boat launches?

Yikes!

I would tell MS the situation and ask for a room on a lower floor....and/or close to an elevator. Being close to the elevator will limit long hall walks.

At the theme parks you might want to see if they rent scooters.:wave2:

I'm not a doctor, and don't even play one on tv, but this may not really be a problem. Granted, there may be something unusual going on, but I broke my toe a few days before a Disney trip several years back and it really did not slow me down.

It is my understanding that doctors don't typically do anything for a broken toe as far as casts/splints, but instead just suggest that you have comfortable, well broken in shoes that will provide some level of protection to the broken toe. I was not restricted from walking, unless and until I had any swelling, new discoloration, etc.

I remember the trip well, but don't really remember having a problem with my toe. I did this as a single parent with an eight-year-old and a not quite two-year-old and we had a blast, and definitely no scooters were needed or long walks avoided.

I have to ditto what Fred said...unless she has some complications...I don't think it will slow her down a bit (which toe?).

DD broke hers the day before she went to Girl Scout camp last year (no more riding bikes with flip flops on!). She was scheduled for 2 hours of horseback riding every day for the next week...and the toe never bothered her. The only reason she didn't get to swim is that she had three stitches where the spokes almost took off the tip of her toe.

I agree. Wrap it in lambs wool for protection, loose fitting shoes for swelling, time for ice and legs up if necessary but probably not.

BTW-we'll be neighbors in 3 days as we are in a SV studio. Hope everything works out.

from experience :( ..............
like everyone said: wrap it, wear comfy, CLOSED sneakers. tell her to be constantly aware of strollers, tho ~ the toe got "run over" (OUCH!!) by a few.
hth

Just an idea. You could go to a local shoe store and purchase a pair of Sketchers womens steel toe sneakers for about $50. This will give her comfortable shoes as well as protection against strollers, other peoples feet, and even the dreaded scooters! I wear these at work as well as at home and at Disney and find them to be very comfortable and roomy. Only catch, if you wear them through security at the airport, tell them first because they will set off the detectors.
