Oh, no! Tropical Storm Chris

We're going to Siesta Key (near Sarasota) for a long weekend, Friday to Tuesday, so this is a bit of a bummer. But even if we get some rain, I figure there will be rain-free periods here and there for beach time. As long as there are enough of those, I will be happy.

And could BECOME a Hurricane by noon tommorrow. :confused3 Might go further South to the keys or tip of Cuba or remain on the path across the bottom half of Fl. From West Palm Beach on down... :confused3 Still needs to be watched, the good thing is: It will be OVER with by Tuesday Aug.8th, so, IF I am OK and Porperty is OK I WILL be going to WDW as Planned on Sat. Aug 12th! :thumbsup2  Keep your fingers and toes crossed.

I think you'll get to go. I'm leaving my oldest son in charge by himself, while I'm away seeing my parents. He semi knows what to do so I can see many phones between him and I if it comes closer than what they say now.

We went to WDW just days after hurricane Charlie in 2004. There was damage at the US Airways terminal at MCO so we could not fly out of Philly. We got in the car and drove. It was THE MOST memorable trip we ever had. We got a room upgrade at WL (they must have pitied us after driving 18 hours) and the entire trip was laced with Disney Magic including being moved to the front of the line by a CM at Splash Mountain on our last day there.
I told DH I refuse to worry about hurricanes this trip. I'm keeping an eye on Chris but we're not flying out till Aug. 14, so we should be ok.
I did learn one lesson from that trip (besides get trip insurance)....if the airline cannot fly you out for any reason (other than current weather) there's an FAA rule that says they have to fly you out on another carrier's next flight out. We didn't know this when we went and when the US Airways lady said they couldn't fly us out for 3 days...we just drove. Now I know better.

I know its still far away, and the computer models are going more south. But living in Florida all my life and dealing with all the storms in the past, you kind of get I guess a gut feeling on where it might hit. I really don't think it will hit anywhere near WDW. Plus I will be there Saturday

I like your thinking :thumbsup2

Bring it on, Chris! Let's see what ya got! Leaving at 6AM tomorrow for our trip, so Chris is welcome to join the party. The winds will be a welcome change from the 100-degree heat here in Jersey. :thumbsup2
