I just checked the weather today and there's a Tropical Storm that is being projected to be around Florida next week. It's projected to be in the Bahamas by Sunday. :guilty:

And so it begins......no WDW trip for me on August 12-15th. :guilty:

thats not good:( i live in miami and this is the 1st i heard of this:(

we leave in 2 weeks... aug 15th-22nd here... hope it clears up by then and isn't closely followed.

1) Sorry about that.
2) But, this is Florida.
3) it is also Storm and Hurricane season.
4) You take the bad with the good.
5) Just come and hope for the best.

Chill, dont freak out! For one, it is only a Tropical Storm. Furthermore, things change at an instant. Who knows - perhaps tomorrow it could be moving in the opposite direction. Just hope for the best and dont let it ruin your trip! :cool1:

And something RustyScupper didn't mention: Unless it stalls severely, a tropical storm that hits the Bahamas Sunday is likely to be long gone from Florida by August 12.

I think they have pushed it up to be in the Bahamas on Saturday.

Exactly. Right now, it's very weak and by the time it reaches Orlando (if it does at all), it could simply be a couple days of rain and some wind. Not a big deal at this point (knock on wood).

Unless that thing sits and stalls over the Bahamas, which is unheard of, it will be completely gone by the time you get to Disney.

Looks to be visiting Disney World around Tuesday/Wednesday 8/8 or 8/9 if it does not change course. Even hurricanes want to visit WDW.

Look at it this way, it'll be really cool at the park if it gets pretty close. Hopefuly it'll just be a tropical depression by the time it gets close to Florida. Realistically it will strengthen when it gets to the warmer waters, but hey, we can hope eh! Stay positive. :goodvibes

2 words for ya when you're planning your trips during hurricane season:

T-R-I-P I-N-S-U-R-A-N-C-E

Well, it's really too early to have any idea, just a good thing to watch if you live in or plan on visiting Florida next week.

Also, it appears more to be heading to S. Florida, but can still cause bad weather for the other areas of Florida.

Even though forecast are getting better, they normally aren't 100% on the nose, especially a week out.

Just go. I've been to WDW during 2 tropical storms and 1 Hurricane. I still have the letter for when they closed the parks in 1999 for that one too. Its really no big deal. little wind, a little rain and before you know it your back in the park. Heck in 1998 we went to EPCOT during a tropical depression 30 mph winds and a little rain. I saw less than 100 guests in the park for over 2 hrs. And then the sun came out and all the people showed back up. We were done with what we wanted to do by then. It was a good day overall.

We're driving down on Thursday! What a way to wake up this morning. Staying at the Swan through Tuesday the 8th. Oh well. We always say that life is full of stories, and this one could be a great one for years to come.

It's too early to make any changes because of a storm. They move around too quickly so far from the US shores. In 52 hours I'll be standing on Main Street USA!

We'll be fine. The months to look out for are Sept.-Nov. I'm NOT looking forward to those hurricane infested months at all. Disney vacations aside, I live here and the devistation and chaos that happens is overwhelming.

The local news stations here in Orlando have not even mentioned this storm yet.

Trust me, if Orlando was in any sort of danger, the local news/weather outlets would be all over this! When Orlando is in a storm path, the coverage usually starts a good 10 days out!

I hope it changes course. That's when I'm suppose to be at WDW. :(
