I know, there are a lot of posts on this but I was just looking at the baby photo site from our old town and someone named their kid a name that will get bleeped out here if I posted what it really is. It is Dar(curse word for poop).

It's a Hindu name that means "Respect". It's probably an old family name, and they may not have even noticed the "extra" word in there.
I'm sure there's plenty of normal Western names that mean something rude in other languages and cultures. For instance, even though it's not a common baby name anymore, older women are sometimes named "Fanny" in the US and at worst we think it's a cute name for a person's tuckus. Want to guess what a "Fanny" is in the UK?![]()
Let's not even talk about the nickname for Richard...
I don't get the thing about the name Randy![]()
On Letterman last night he did the top ten on the baby name "Facebook". Apparently a family in Egypt names their baby Facebook in honor of the site which enabled them to spread the word for their protests. No idea if it is true or not...just saying that's a new one on me , for sure!
Uncommon spellings of common names have tripped me up a couple of times recent.
Eriika instead of Erika or Erica.
Mellisa instead of Melissa.
Some of the made up names get me too....like Girlscoutcookieisha.
First thing I thought of was it is an ethnic name. I looked it up and sure enough it is. Are they Indian by any chance?
If I could get my hands on a girl scout cookie right now I'd agree to name my baby "Girlscoutcookieisha"!![]()
Or the former NASCAR driver whose last name was Trickle and they did not call him Richard.![]()
Or our local politician Richard Swett (and he uses the shortened version starting with a "D").
