We leave for Disney on Saturday (our first trip as a family, DH and I both went as children), and my DS and I are SICK!!!

I was at Urgent Care yesterday, and I have bronchitis.

DS had been to the doctor last week, and they had said it was a sinus infection. But, when the fever spiked and the vomiting started ... we went to the ER. He tested positive for Type A Influenza ... and they are treating him as if it is H1N1.

Give me some encouragement that we'll be better in time for our appointment with the mouse.

Thanks!

It's Monday by Saturday I would think you both will be feeling much better. Take the medication, get enough rest and don't stress.

I hope they feel better soon....they can pass it along until 24 hours after fever so be safe.WDW WILL let you push your trip back if they have the room if you have h1n1,I know some people that had to do that and they did not charge them a thing.

I think you will be fine by Saturday. I would be worried about your DH though because he could become sick by the end of the week. Make sure he takes percautions to stay healthy. Good luck, and I hope you are all healthy by the end of the week!

My friend was given tamiflu to take as a precaution when both her kids were diagnosed with H1N1. Good luck to you!

You still have a good five days to recover! It will work out!

Our very first trip to WDW, my DH got sick two days before (throwing up type illness). He wasn't great by the time we left, but I did all the driving and let him sleep. Our first night there he didn't eat a thing at Chef Mickeys. By our first full day he was fine to tour and we had a great trip. On the way home eight days later....the kids had it. Not a fun drive home.

My guess would be you could have H1N1, too...because the flu test is not accurate about 50% of the time.

Hopefully you are feeling better!

Don't hesitate to cancel, though...going to Disney is such a magical experience...but not fun if you are sick. :sad2:

:sad2: This is just the reason I made sure my kids got the h1n1 vaccine...my dss 11 will be at wdw this weekend and it is downright scary ...flame away I do not care! I spend alot on wdw vacation also but to go would be hard for the kids to walk around a park, kids are getting a infection after the onset of h1n1 and THAT is what is bad. My ds12 had h1n1 in Sept and it was hard on him...it wore him out and it took a while to get better and he was a healthy boy.I hope your ds feels better and no one else gets it (in your family) just dont forget the kids that are there that have immune issues already.I am not trying to be nasty but that stuff is spreading like wildfire in Florida and people should do all they can to contain it.

Also remember to scale it back a little back even if everyone is feeling well. The hectic pace will run everyone down and be a prime breeding ground for a secondary infection to set in. Take care!

Sorry, but it's Thursday and you don't know if you both will be contageous on Saturday. What if you were to infect a pregnant woman or infant and God forbid they die from it? This is no longer a far-fetched reality. My family had a trip planned forever. We were supposed to leave Tuesday. My dd got fever. Just high fever. She wasn't feeling really ill and could have tolerated the parks, but why would I take the chance of infecting someone who could lose their life just to visit Disney World. My ds now has the same high fever. He was fine when we were set to leave, so would have been contageous while we were there. I hope more people realize that a trip isn't worth potentially endangering someone's life. And Disney cancelled the hotel, refunded my mnsshp tickets (we were going tonight,) and even offered to refund our pass renewal. Sorry, I obviously feel strongly about this. Don't go.

:thumbsup2

Jennsmail -
I feel for you. It's a sad decision to make. Literally 90 minutes ago my family canceled our disney vacation. We were to fly to FL tomorrow a.m. and my son was diagnosed with H1N1 today. He is a miserable little man right now and I would not want to take a chance that we'd pass it along to anyone at all. He sobbed the entire way home from the Dr. office when he realized his trip to see the mouse was not to be. Sorry your family is sick, this season has been a brutal one and H1N1 shots are not available in our area yet. Good luck and get better.
BTW - Disney was more than helpful in canceling. They gave us a full refund and may well wishes, they're the best.
