I am totally bummed - was looking forward to dinner at Napa Rose at the counter - I am solo disappointed .... Not sure what to do now...that was our DDD celebration dinner plan.... we will not have a park pass for this day, so need suggestions - what would you do?

Steakhouse 55 or Jazz Kitchen would be my top choices in DTD. Off site, I'm not really sure but I've heard there are good restaurants in the..what's the name of the mall across the street? Garden something. I think there is a Benihana type place, which might be fun.

I agree with steakhouse 55. Garden walk has Roy's which is really yummy and nice. Only been to the one in sf though. Down the street I think there's a Ruth Chris steakhouse and a Mortens I believe. I wonder why napa rose is closed?

Renovating the kitchen.

We were disappointed in this too as we were really looking forward to trying Napa Rose for the first time. We have opted for Statehouse 55 which we may not have ever tried if not for looking for an alternative to Napa Rose.

We also opted for Steakhouse 55 - excited to try that too, but.... Does anyone know where Chef Sutton from Napa Rose will be cooking during the renovations?

I forgot to ask: what is the 'DDD' in your "DDD celebration dinner plan"? Who is dining? Adults, kids?

Oops sorry DDD is for The Dumbo Double Dare races my daughters and I will be taking part in! All of us are adults. DDD is a 10K on Saturday & 13.1 on Sunday! So the celebration is for hopefully the celebration of completing those races (fingers crossed!).....

Oh, cool!! Good luck to you! Since you're all adults, here are my thoughts. Steakhouse 55 has the best food and you would have a fun, fabulous dining experience there. However, I would not discount Jazz Kitchen in DTD for the following reasons: you can sit in the courtyard near the fountain or up on the balcony overlooking DTD and to me it would be more celebratory. I love the look of the place (but I don't care much for being inside there--too crowded and noisy for me, especially when the musicians are playing). Kids are often a little put off by some of the menu items, like the crawdad mashed potatoes, but they're delicious!! I love the medallions (2 filet mignon steaks). Best of all, they offer my 2 favorite desserts in DLR. The first is the double chocolate bread pudding. Order it when you order dinner because it takes them about 20 minutes to make it. It's incredible. It's like a chocolate souffle, hot, and they bring it to your table with 2 little pitchers of hot chocolate ganache, one white and one dark. They dig a little hole in the center and you get to pour in the chocolate. Heaven!! The other is the Bananas Foster (serves 2). Mmmmmm!! They prepare it at your table and it's out of this world. So fun to have that flaming caramel thing served up with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
