I'll keep you in my prayers...
I had it once and my only talking was whispering...Of course everyone wanted to hold a conversation..
Hope it doesn't last long..

Sorry not suggestions to help it go away faster, but sending you some PD:wizard: and a prayer that it gets better soon.

I had that for 4 days earlier this month. I could barely speak and that was only a whisper. I was dumb enough to take the kids to the grocery store after I picked them up one day. They were sugar loaded from being at my parents' house. I couldn't yell at them to behave, so I called my DS over and whispered to him that when I whistle, it means that they are getting too rambunctious. Anyone else who was in the store, hearing me whistle at the kids, probably though I was nuts.... but it worked.

Sorry you're sick!

I woke up with laryngitis on Wed. Some hot tea w/honey seemed to ease it for short periods. By yesterday it was a bit better and today I'm at least able to talk but still sound a little scratchy.

I had laryngitis for the past 10 days or so. One day, I couldn't talk at all. Not that I'm an expert, but the #1 thing to do is not talk. Frequent hot tea made it feel better and allowed me to talk for short periods. Gargling with hot salt water will also work if you don't like tea, plus it makes sore throats feel better for short periods (that was my mom's home remedy, but Chloraseptic spray works so much better for the sore throats). My favorite remedy is sucking on a salty lemon, but it's horrible for the teeth.

Yep me too. It struck on Christmas morning!! You should have seen me trying to shout over all 18 of my disfunctional family members. :)

I had it real bad Christmas Eve......it's so hard talking to 30 family members when nothing is coming out of my voice!!!

LOL Nette......sounds like me!!!::yes::

I seem to be prone to laryngities but unfortunately when I get it, it lasts for months.... Nothing I do seems to help and I have been to several specialists because it has lasted so long. The longest time I had it for was 5 months. It just seems to come back all of a sudden. My dgrdd's know that when I whistle they have to come and see what I want. RUDisney I get some funny looks as well but thank goodness the dgrdd's are so good.

Sorry Jill, no advice but I hope you are feeling better real soon!!!:wave2:

Sorry no help here. I had it for 3 days over Christmas (DH was happy) but it is going around! Hope you feel better soon. I'm still not 100% yet!

what? i can't hear you! can you speak a little louder?

j/k, i lost my voice about 2 weeks ago...but thankfully i got it back! drink lots of hot beverages and dont talk at ALL!!

My doctor said not to even try to talk if you want it to go away the quickest. My kids loved my bout with pharyngitis.

I know what you're going through as well. I've had it all week - sometimes more than others along with coughing jags. It's the pits.

Feel better soon!!

Only advice is don't talk. I actually have it easy since I sign. I can always resort to that. Or resort to pad and pencil.

Talking Hands I can sign too but no one here signs so it really doesn't help me much. I must say I do get frustrated at them when I am "telling" them something and they don't understand.
