Anyone else addicted to buying the newest lastest, etc. It seems for the past few months I've been at the local DVD place each and every Tuesday to pick up atleast one new movie. What a budget breaker.... :earseek:

My dad is, but he usually gets DVDs when they're on sale or have specials. He's also gotten previously viewed ones (basically used). He also has the Best Buy Reward Zone card, so now he always gets coupons and buys even more.

I love to buy them too!!! We only rent movies once or twice a year otherwise we buy! It's a sickness ;) but I do try to only buy ones I know we will want to watch again! In fact, I just bought 2 this week! We are running out of room to store them!!!

Guilty! Madagascar already purchased and watched today. :rotfl:

No, I hate buying them. That is why I love Netflix sooo much! Watch it and get rid of it.

Me too. Except we buy a whole lot of the Disney DVD's and similar. But not buying Madagascar.... kids didn't really like it.

for the most part i have instituted a freeze on buying till the hds come out, we got the set and dvd player in sept, and now i don't want to buy something that i have to replace in 3 months.

You've got an HD-DVD player? From where?

Standard DVDs when played on an upconverting regular DVD player on an HD TV look great!! Not true HD but they still look great.

Plus, I think you'll have a looooooooooooong wait until you can build up your collection. Most likely new movies are shot in HD then down converted to regular DVD and will be available in HD-DVD. However, older movies will never be available in true HD-DVD (even if they up convert them they still won't be true HD).

your not alone..... :cool1: between dh and dd.......asking for new dvd's !!!! usually i try to wait out the video store as they'll sell them for 9.95 or less....but ive been getting some for Christmas......Bewitched the second season is waiting for me on Christmas morning

Guilty here! Oh my... we've got so many DVDs, lol. I don't feel like I buy alot, but whenever I'm out and see something Disney, or something I think DH would like... I buy it.

So guilty, soooo running out of room. :rotfl:

But I will not be able to resist the deepdiscountdvd.com 20% off sale going on right now, so it's only going to get worse. 20% off already low prices and no tax and shipping, count me in. My wish list is ten titles long so far.

I have however stopped buying most movies the week they come out. The only exceptions are ones that come with bonus stuff or ones I doubt will get a price break in two months.

And then there is the dreaded double dip. So many movies getting a new release, I wait to get only that second release. Hellboy and Sin CIty are two great examples of this. Thankfully I started to notice the trend and didn't buy either of the first releases.

Oh my goodness, ever since I started dating my fiance he got me addicted!! We're going to start with easily 300 DVDs in our collection when we merge our collections after the wedding. It's so bad!!

I've bought 70 DVD movies and 7 TV DVD season since about June, the nice new rack I bought when I started is almost full!

No, I only own a few dvds. To me, they're really not worth spending money on because they're not cheap, and I won't watch movies over and over and over. I do have a large VHS collection, but I don't watch those very much, either.

when we bought the dlp set at best buy they were running a special for buying a second component from samsung, $50 off, so we bought the hd dvd playerfor $99.99. i couldn't believe they were that cheap, but you are so right the analogs look soooooo good, and i hooked it up with the optical cable so it stays digital to digital. the other thing i like is that it fills the entire 16:9 screen without that normal distorted image from a 4:3 image.

i was working with a guy who had worked at circuit city, he said to go to sonystyle.com, and they had about 25 titles already available on hd, but i couldn't find the right menu option to find them, i guess i'll have to go talk to someone in the store. i had read that batman begins was supposed to be available in hd.

but with the older movies, i'll just be happy if they are released in 16:9 with no letterboxing. now that i have it i want the screen filled and don't stretch the people.

WE ARE! But we buy only the ones we like to have, the good ones. We also have a blockbuster movie pass, for $20.00 a month we can rent all movies we want to and keep them as long as we want to. We are there every Tuesday for the new ones.
