Waaaaa **sniff sniff** yes, the U word!!!
(U word to me = DD has grown up and wants to do other than WDW in Orlando.)
Let me explain. My DD (14) have been to WDW 2x a year for 5 years now. Because DH has no interets in visiting WDW, we have been able to afford to go alot more trips (1 person less=more trip money). Our mother/daughter trips have been sooo FUN
such great memories were built during these trips. I prayed that she didn't get sick of it anytime soon. We just did 10 days in May, she is now 14, almost 15 and I think the time has come... the time when she needs more than WDW
I have always saved UNIVERSAL as an "in case" she gets tired of WDW. I believe the time is here
She is saying she would go to Universal, but not WDW next time... or she would go somewhere else altogether.
I have been to Universal when I was 20, but I don't remember much and havent been since. I KNOW she will LOVE it there, the thrill rides and all... it is just sad the time has come when I have to use any of our Orlando time anywhere but WDW. It is a change that I equate to her growing up, ya know. I am the one who is like
when I hear people say WDW and Universal in the same trip. I just get like,
that they need to be at WDW to see more. I mean if a family is going for 7 days, and they say they are doing Sea World and Universal and WDW, I am like
NOOOOO, you need that time and more to see what you need to at WDW. Save Universal for another time!! You all know how much time you need to see the best of WDW. I mean we have done 7-10 day trips 7 times and still have seen new things each time, and still haven't seen it all, ya know.
I guess once I get past the fact that she is growing up and all, I am sure I will be excited for the change in the trips. I tell ya though, she will be all over the thrill rides, so Universal will be right up her ally. Oh gawd she will be loving dragging me on those rides!
I have been saving Universal in my back pocket. I think it is time I pull the card.
Please tell me, you who have been through this, you who love Universal, tell me I will be OK with this change.
***I haven't listened to any of the Universal podcast shows yet, so I am sure I will have a treat to hear them. Plus, planning something new, means more investigating for me, which I LOVE!***
Pete I know you say you love it at Universal... I will too... right???

Plus, US is small compared to WDW. You won't waste a lot of time getting from place to place. We also spend a wonderful day at Sea World.
I've heard "rumblings" about trying "U" too. My niece is 12 and she still loves Disney, but she has started telling me about things she has heard about at Universal. She's subtle about it, I think she is trying to "ease" me into the idea. I know alot of people love "U", but I've just
) If you come to terms with the fact that the "U" is a theme park but is NOT WDW (read "no magic") then you will be able to have fun. I may rot in WDW hell for saying this, but there are some terrific rides at the U and Suess land is a really cute area .. to walk through.
I don't think U is a dirty word - it is just different. Who knows, maybe a Disney fan gets to appreciate Disney even more after a day or two at the U.
But it would mean I would have to except the fact that DD is past the all WDW phase and growing up
