I just found out I am having a baby:thumbsup2 only problem is I am 6 months away from my wedding and I don't know if I should go ahead with the wedding (watch out white whale heading down the aisle:rotfl2: ) or delay the nuptuals until a later date. Also my dress! they will let me exchange it for a larger size but will that work? Or do I need to get a maternity dress?

Congrats on the wee one! :cool1:

I honestly don't know a lot about this, but I would think that a maternity dress would be the way to go since they're are built just to give extra size around the belly not everywhere else.

I'd just go on with the wedding no matter what, you'll be beautiful!

I would either move the wedding up or hold off until after the baby. Reason being that these are both huge life events and I wouldn't think the stress of both would be good for the pregnancy. Good luck! And Congratulations! :)

I guess I should add everything is done for the wedding so no added stress! I am a planner.

I'd say do whatever makes you feel comfortable. However, if you have to move it way up you most likely will have much fewer guests due to the short notice.

Congratulations on the little one on the way! I think it's up to you which you would prefer--would you rather be pregnant on your wedding day and get to have the wedding sooner or would you rather wait until the baby is born.

Whatever works for you - go for it!! If everything is already planned, I would probably go ahead on schedule. You'll just need to order some of that yummy sparkling grape juice instead of champagne at the reception! A girlfriend and I were both preggers at the same time back in '99 and took a Disney trip - we had a great time waddling around the parks at our own pace.

Regarding your dress - DO NOT GET A MATERNITY GOWN; THEY ARE UGLY!! After working in bridal for ever 5 years, we see this all the time - almost monthly. If your store has agreed to trade in your gown, call ahead and ask the Store Manager or the Seamstress/Alterations Manager to help you look for a replacement gown. A couple of options that work really well:

1. An empire waist gown is a wonderful look for pregnant brides. The bodice will end under your bust and the fullness starts at your ribcage and allows room for baby.

2. Get a two piece gown. Then order the skirt portion with extra length. It sounds weird - but you can pull the skirt up over your waist and up to your bustline (like an empire). Then you can put the bodice over your chest and it will flare out a bit at your waist.

3. Corset styles with the tie back are great too! Then you can cinch it in or let it out as needed.

Finally, with any of these styles, order some extra fabric from the manufacturer. It will cost a couple hundred more, but then your seamstress can make gussets for you. A gusset is a triangular piece that is added into the bodice/waist area to allow for baby room.

Congrats on your soon to be new addition! I would say, if you have everything planned already, just go ahead with the wedding as is. You will definitely not look like a "white whale". Women are always beautiful when they are pregnant, and they are always beautiful when they are brides, so you have nothing to worry about :)

Well I pose this question to you then.... This is my wedding dress I love it so much and do not want to part with it. I can trade it for a larger size do you think this will work??? I am thinking of moving the wedding to Jan. only up 2 months so I hope people can still make it! it will still give me about 4 months to get everything done!

CONGRATULATIONS! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU - WHAT A NICE SURPIRSE!!
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

If everything is already planned, I would go ahead with the wedding! Why not? Just remember, everything can be changed - your dress and all! And who cares what anyone says?? This is a beautiful thing!

CONGRATS AGAIN! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

how far along are you? like will you be 9 months & giving birth on the aisle? :teeth: what does your fh think? i would move up the wedding if everyone can make it or delay it until after your baby is born & then your little one could be part of your other special day. is money a concern? maybe downsize & get married back home now, you can always do a wdw vr later. as for your dress you can check with a tailor/seamstress about adding a panel to your dress or take fabric in as needed if you order a larger size. best of luck!

I will be about 7 months along! My Df doesn't care and we are getting married at home and disneymooning which will have to be changed as well! I guess it's just an added stress factor and I thought the flowers were bad:rotfl:

I love your dress!! Gorgeous.... I think you could totally get it altered to work with a pregnant belly. If you just have them move the ribbon and take it out a bit they can make it an empire waist. Otherwise, when you said that you were considering another dress I immediately pictured a chiffon gausy (sp?) type dress that's kind of grecian inspired with little cap sleeves... they're all over the red carpets lately and look SO nice on pregnant women. I would investigate that! CONGRATULATIONS!! :)

Congratulations! Get a larger dress, and do some research on a fabulous seamstress. Find the best seamstress, that can alter the dress around your new shape. It is a beautiful dress. It is probably your dream dress. Do it, you will regret it otherwise. I can't wait to see the pix.

Congratulations!!! And I definitely love that dress......I love that dress so much because it's my dress too!! I definitely wouldn't give up wearing it either. Why don't you try going back to the store and try on a bigger size with a small pillow or something stuffed in it....just to see how it would look? Some people don't even start showing until their 6th month, so you might not even need a much bigger size. It might just mean some absolute last minute alterations, but that dress is worth it :)

Personally, I would either move the wedding up or wait until the baby is born. Some women don't show much and others get huge very fast. For my cousin, it was a race to keep the dress alterations up with her fast growing figure. No one plans on complications, but what if you had to be on bedrest for the last months. I personally would be nervous pushing it to 7 months but you should do what feels comfortable for you.

I would recommend that you push the wedding up a lot - (not just 2 months) or plan on waiting and my reasoning is not because you might be big - it's because anything can happen along the way in a pregnacy that can halt your life for the time being. I had complications with both my pregancies. With my first, I was restricted to light duty - work only and low stress at that and then home and off my feet and definately no traveling. Once that was lifted, within a week or so - I ended up going into pre-term labor so I was put on bed rest. This all happened in my second and third trimester. With my second, I went into pre-term labor and ended up having him early 6 weeks early but I know many people that have had their babies 2 - 3 months early. I would hate for anyone to be in their finals weeks or days to a wedding and then have to cancel due to the bride being put on bedrest!

I hope you have a blessed, uneventful pregnancy as well as a beautiful marriage.
