Oh no! Another Owner's Locker thread.

Do you have an Owner's Locker & if so, is it worth it?

  • Yes, we have one & love it, it's worth the money!

  • No, we would not spend $100 a year to store our stuff.

  • No, but we may sign up in the future.

Well, last year I had researched the different OL subscription options...in anticipation of signing up for one. Life got in the way and forced me to cancel last year's trip though, and now I forgot what the different offers were. I know that the DIS, Lou Mongello and AllEars had various offers. Can anyone enlighten me on the details and also tell me if they use an OL and if so whether they think it's worth the $$.

TIA!

We love our OL, it works very well for our needs. However, i know that each person's situation varies.
We fly into Orlando, and with the increase in baggage fees and so forth, and for the simple ease of leaving things in the OL, it's well worth the money for us. We've had problems with some items being opened and damaged from TSA during our flights (story on other posts), so we can justify the cost in many different ways.
It also works well for us in that we make multiple trips (at least 2) per year, and again, baggage fees for us would well surpass the OL fee.
As far as where to join through, i'm only familiar with the offer that the DIS has, and it has worked well by us. Also, if you have a friend that has OL already, use them as a reference, and they'll receive a small bonus for the referral. Then meet John on Tuesday's in EPCOT ...France, and have a great time! :thumbsup2

You forgot to ask if anyone has 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. Owners Lockers. I have heard of a family that has 10.

We have 2 and couldn't be without them.

David

I don't have one, but if I didn't already have another place to store our stuff (snowbird parent's house, 20 min away) I would love to have one - or more likely, two.

We don't have one but don't need one, our DD lives 30 minutes from WDW and her basement is our "owner's locker" if we need it. Hey, we kept her stuff in our attic for 7 years before she and her dh moved. It's payback time! :thumbsup2

Like the PP, I've looked into (and forgotten) the various OL offers...but I do remember concluding, last time I looked into it, that it's NOT $100/year (or whatever the incentive offer is)...there's some kind of limit on the number of times per year OL will deliver your locker w/out add'l charges...

For us, it gets more expensive than baggage fees (or buying our liquid "stuff" once we get there)...we tend to go several times/year for fairly short trips (last year I went 5 times--once for 8 days and the other times for 5,6 or 7 days)...those extra charges for extra deliveries added up, as I recall...

I love the idea of it, but just can't justify the cost...(and how goofy is that for someone who spends the money to go to WDW (often to work!) 5 times/year!!!)

yeah, I know one of the offers was for up to two visits a year, and then they also had an "unlimited visits" option for around $175 I believe. So, those visiting more than twice a year could take advantage of that offer....

I have the unlimited deliveries and love my locker!:goodvibes

It is definitely worth it for me. Last trip was a girls trip and we had a bottle of expensive liquor left over. It is now in my locker for next trip. That bottle alone was $50 that I did not have to throw away or risk packing in my checked bag.

It really is convenient. Having delivery to the resort is great. On trips I dont have a car, my OL is all I need. I save much more than I spend on OL and the service is excellent.

My friend packed a bunch of liquids and had to pay $20 each way to check her bag, she planned on carrying on.

I MISS my Owners Locker sooo much! We won't even have the chance to USE it again until I don't know WHEN but I still think it's worth it to know that it's waiting for us if we get the chance to plan a trip!! We went in March for spring break (6 nights) in carry-ons only!! LOVE IT!! LOVE that we don't have to schlep a billion bags or visit the baggage claim when we get home!! LOVE that I don't have to print out a list of things to pack each time we go & cross them off as I pack them. Just LOVE it, love it, love it!! I wish it could go to Europe next year on the Magic to be there waiting for us in the Med!!! I forget now exactly what our deal was when we signed up...but it's worth it to know our stuff is safe & sound & waiting for us.:goodvibes

:worship:  :worship:  We LOVE our OL :worship:  :worship:

We just got back from 9 days and nothing but carry on bags for 4 people.

Fantastic concept & even better service. SO worth it and then some! We are planning on adding our 2nd to keep winter clothes in for our November trip.

Your $100 annual storage fee includes 1 trip per year. Additional trips are $25 unless of course you opt for the unlimited plan.

OK, if the queen of packing loves her OL then anyone will... :lmao:

I'm just having a hard time convincing DH that we need this. (I'm always the one who does all the packing, so why should he care?)

I tried taking the tack of having things we wouldn't ordinarily have - our mini-keurig, a Brita filter, our toiletries, etc.

But he's not convinced. I gave him examples of lists people had compiled about what fills their boxes. Still not convinced. I kinda had him with the ponchos, but then he is like, "I can buy new ponchos for the whole family for $5, do we really need a locker?" And I've encountered such resistance from him that I started to wonder if I was the crazy one, and that this just is not necessary.

Anyway, I'm anxious to show him the poll results and use the collective group opinion to sway him! :thumbsup2

Wish me luck!

Love, love, love my OL. I head down to WDW twice a year and love not having to worry about certain things being lugged down each time. All my laundry stuff is in there, full sized toiletries, cards, heavier clothing that I use in Dec, a few changes of clothes for the summer trips. An extra pair of Crocs. I have some melamine dishes and bowls for those studio stays. I have clothespins, over the door shoe bag. All sorts of things I don't want to lug with me each time.
Now, I can go to WDW for stays under a week and not have to bring any checked bags...that's really nice. The OL guys make it all so easy and pleasant...love them to pieces.

Love our OL. We dont have to worry about taking toiletries through the airport. We have all our comfort items right there waiting for us. It makes vacations so much easier.

OP here. Thanks for the responses! I really love the idea of being able to travel with just carry on if we were taking a shorter trip. No toiletries! My husband balked at that too, b/c he says he can use the toiletries that are provided by mousekeeping. Well, too bad the rest of us can't!

So I need some more support! Who else out there is loving their OL?

I had a hard time convincing DH too, but he's a diehard fan of OL now! We take ONE carry on for the two of us plus a briefcase with our lap tops, and I need to take a breathing machine, but that's it. NO checked bags at all, and we easily get everything in one trip from the rental car to the unit. The OL does cause several hernias though for anyone who has to carry it!:lmao: Sorry, John.

We also can travel with only carry-ons and computer case. The convenience is the biggest plus for us and the level of service offered by John and Brian is incredible!

Still test driving our OL. I took advantage of the promotion that offered 2 trips per year, I believe for 3 years. I packed it full in May when I did a "women's week" and DH and I are going back in December and bringing only a carry on, then again in Feb with kids. We usually fly SW so bags fly free, ironically enough Delta had a fare of 159.00 pp r/t for December so that was a no brainer and I am thrilled I do not have to pay to check my bags.

My DW thought it was silly and that I was crazy. Now she will say on occasion that she has something that she wants to keep in "OUR" locker. Boy I'm glad she thought of that.
