OH NO!!! Another AAA discount question!

We too were going back and forth between going through WDW or AAA. Here is what we have been quoted $3790.50 through WDW and $3491.36 through AAA. We are 2 adults 2 kids, BC for 6 nights, 6 day park hopper and quick service dining plan. By looking at the numbers, I guess I should know my choice!! If we go through WDW we can use our AAA discount for the room, but then we can't get the dining plan and I just like the thought of everything being paid for before we go and we just need spending money. But then again, will we be spending $80 a day in food for 4 of us (that's the about what the dp would cost us)?

I am just so confused on what to do :confused3 ! I am glad to see that I am not the only one.

One more question:
If you already have a room with AAA discount, will AAA always be able to convert it into a package? I'm worried that the rooms with the discount will be "gone" when I finally decide if the dining plan's worth it to me. :confused3 Am I worrying for nothing, or will my "package" be there waiting for me?

Here is what I was told by my AAA TA - she could not take my existing room ressies that I made through WDW and make it into a package with her. I had to do everything all over again (including calling WDW to cancel my current ressies).

Couldn't you book your room through AAA and then once you decide if the DP is worth it for you, you could call and add it?

sharadoc -- the DVD player must have been something that AAA office was doing, such as a contest or whatever.
Wasn't the $25 an extra for those who booked in January (typically Disney Month at AAA)? :confused3

I thought I'd add my experience here. I originally called WDW and made reservations for room/tickets with AAA discount. The room rate was discounted but the tickets were full price through WDW. I couldn't get DP added on with my AAA discount.

So I called AAA. Made the same reservations. Same tickets with hopper, same hotel. Added DP. It cost less than then price for 4 days x 2 for DP. In other words, something else was discounted when I bought the package through AAA. The savings was substantial.

I then called WDW back and cancelled. THe only inconvenience was that I prepaid the entire package (we leave in a month) to AAA and they will send my documents to me via DHL or I can pick up in their office.

Considering the savings and knowing I can get the tickets transferred to my hotel room once we get there, I'm a happy AAA user.

sidenote/I've become obssessed with WDW in my old age <grin> and applied for a Disney Visa so I can start to add reward dollars to my trips and get additional discounts for future trips.

I just now got the quote. $2921.10 for the package - room and base tickets. If I book it myself, I'm at around the same price. Nothing extra offered. I'm verifying now - I just sent a note asking if something else besides room and tickets came with the package, so I'll let you all know.

NEW INFO: Here's what she told me

You will get a $15 planet Hollywood meal voucher for one person, voucher to rent a sea racer which you pay for 60mins and get 90mins, 1 round mini golf for one person, 1 5x7 photo which they take at the entrance at the parks, 30 min arcade card to use at the resorts, discount card that offers varies discount to the stores, food, recreation and tours, a preferred parking voucher to park at the parks and story time telling experience.

I believe this is the same as booking the basic Disney package. The mini golf and discount card looks interesting. Anyone use this package recently?

Glad I am not the only one not really getting a discount with AAA. When I called on Monday after reserving a package deal with Disney, AAA was higher than Disney and they could not get me in at the POFQ. What's up with that? And she didn't mention any other things she was throwing in.

Hi Everyone....

I was a bit bummed the other day when I tried to book a room at the CR with a tower bay view room and they said no AAA room only discouts (Jan 26-Feb 1). I really wanted a package with dining this time. So I booked through them a package for a bay view room, 7 day tickets (no extras) with Deluxe Dining for (2 adults, 14 year old, 9 year old, 2 year old) with insurance and the total came to....$5126.83. (at Rack Rate in hopes of a future code).

I crunched my numbers with the dining and I would be saving $600.00 adding the Deluxe Dining compared to out of pocket. I know, I know....my kids love the sit down breakfast and dinner....and we are Italian....so I don't think I need to say anymore Anyhows...I wasn't too bummed out at that point.

I then did try to contact a AAA agent through the website for a package from them...my only worry was if a Code came out for a package in the future they wouldn't be able to use it if it was a better deal. Anyhows....it took them 2 days to get back to me....with way different things I wanted. Thought ok no big deal. Forget AAA and leave my package alone.

Then I was talking to someone on the boards (thank you again!!!)....and she gave me the name of a AAA agent who ALSO looks out for the codes and WILL apply them if it's a better offer!!!!!

I immediately emailed her late last night....I woke up to an email from her and....I was so excited.

They aren't offerring the bay rooms for a AAA discount BUT she did say the Magic Kingdom View Rooms in the tower were offerring a discount!!!!! She priced it and the package was CHEAPER . My original package was for 6 nights CR Bay Tower Room, 7 Day tickets (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child) with deluxe dining and insurance for $5,126.83. The TA for AAA quoted me for the same package BUT a Tower MK View Room for $4961.35:banana: I'm really happy...since I figured I have an upgrade and a discount if you look at it.

Anyhows....sorry for the long post but wanted everyone to see.....if you keep trying....you may get what you wanted or at least paying a little less.

Happy Planning.....
