As someone whom actually worked in the hotel industry, in the central management staff while in College...I've heard it all (or so I thought!).
I've heard of guests actually pouring WATER all over a floor, and calling to complain of a "damp" carpet which is "ruining" their honeymoon, etc.--to obtain a FREE upgrade. They have done everything from purposefully CLOGGING the toilets, to bringing in their OWN cockroaches & pests, and then strategically placing them (sometimes expired) in the tub, under freshly changed linens, etc. They have even gone so far as to "relieve" themselves in a corner of the room, only to call and report a terrible/unbearable "odor" in the room. You get the idea. These are consummate talented swindlers or grifters in the industry, whom actually "plan" to defraud" the company, irregardless of the laws (which are conveniently posted with the rates in each room). Since the "problems" they usually report are difficult to dispute, these guests are treated accordingly, and usually upgraded (sometimes even COMPED...

) for the inconvenience and trouble. Yet, these people make it more difficult for the GENUINELY disappointed guest to report a problem, as the hotel industry associates become understandably suspicious.
Now, mind you, these are resorts which are considered extremely "upscale"

by any standards (ie: Montecito Inn, Fess Parker's resort, Casa Mailbu inn, etc.). The reporting guests are supposedly persons of elevated class/integrity...etc.

You can thus imagine...these incidents completely "stunned" me!
Also, keep in mind...the invaluable "tracking" system used by the resort industry. Someday, it will be universal (similar to the ones used by Law Enforcement). Until then, it is limited to individual companies. Yet, using this system, Disney management (and most all associates) have access to your detailed "profile and history" which invariably includes ANY/ALL complaints you have EVER lodged with the company. If they believe a "pattern" is developing, they reserve the "right to refuse" service/accommodations to anyone. Although it is rare, they do on occasion enforce this law.
This is why I am less apt to believe such a post/review, and in the very least, believe it to be extremely exaggerated in fact.
