OK we are going Dec. 11-16. I have a park view room at HOJO booked for the ent rate of 69 night, plus tax.

Just found an AP rate at PP for 189 plus tax for Concierge that is park view. So good a deal for Concierge.

I have stayed at DLH before and loved it, but just can't justify the 245 a night there for a standard room.

Is Concierge worth the stay, given this price? (OK so now I need an AP instead of a 5 day park hopper, so we just have to go back in the next year, I can do that...:rotfl2: )

What all do I get with Concierge? (Tacky question, but with the wine and cheese reception, can I get a bottle of wine and take it back to the room, or glass only)

educate me please

With concierge you get continental breakfast, beverages are available to you throughout the day, so you can take a bottle of water or soda into the park with you and not have to pay extra there. There are snacks too, but I really can't help you with the wine question. From what I observed, people were drinking it by the glass, I didn't see any bottles. Plus you get turn down service, one of my favorite things. Enjoy it, it saved us some money on food and drink at the park.

You could try the search function :rotfl2:

Taken from an older post I found....

originally booked it with several things in mind....priority check-in, a great room with a killer DTD view, and the lounge goodies. MOST of that worked out. I had requested 2 queens with the DTD view, and called back three days before to request it again. When we got there at 5 p.m. on Saturday night, I was AGHAST at the "regular" check-in line. It was completely zoo-ey. I would have died had I had to stand in that line. It was probably a half-hour line if not longer, and the people just looked frazzled, there were kids running around everywhere, everyone just wanted to be served. I'm sure I got some serious stink eyes when I went to the empty concierge line and was the next person served (causing the regular line to wait even longer!). That ALONE was worth at least $50 in my mind. We were checked in within 5 minutes and at the monorail station going to Disneyland within the half hour.

The room? Eh. When we checked in I didn't think to ask "is it a DTD room?" If I had asked and heard "no" I might have been able to swing a switch at that point but I was just too excited and didn't think about it. I was just so happy our room was ready and that we got serviced so quickly. I thought about asking to switch on Sunday but we were just having too much fun and too busy to worry about it. As it turns out, it was a great room anyway in terms of location. It was right by the quieter of the elevators, so we were able to get back to our room or out of the hotel very quickly. It was on the 10th floor, with a pool view. We were in our room mostly to sleep so it really didn't matter. Plus the lounge had the great DTD view so we really got to enjoy that anyway. They did do a turndown service each night which actually was very nice (I thought it would be a "waste")--they left a box of Mickey shortbread cookies the first night and lots of chocolate coins the other nights, they cleaned the room up, and left the lights on for us so our Tink wall paper would glow well at bedtime. (Yes, it DID glow.)

The lounge. If you go to Laughingplace.com, I think that's where I found the most pictures of the lounge, and as I recall it's shown pretty accurately. You can also do a search of "concierge" in this forum, lots of people have written about their experiences. It's not very big, but it was never full of more than a half dozen parties, there were plenty of tables and always a lot of food. When we booked it we knew we'd never eat or drink our money's worth, I penciled out that we payed over $100 a night extra for the room. BUT, for our family, time is money. We were able to eat breakfast each morning very quickly, and get out to play faster. There were bagels, danish, cereals (hot and cold to prepare), nice sliced melon and pineapple, grapes, bananas and apples, coffee, milk, juice, and fridge full of bottled water, pop, and juice. Late morning they switch to snacks, which consist of chips and salsa, bagged chips (Doritos, Lays, and pretzels), the apples and bananas, and some dessert items. In the late afternoon they have one hot appetizer that changes every night, cheese and crackers, a veggie tray, as well as beer and wine to drink (which we never did as we were usually in the park or headed to the park during that time) and in the late evening they have dessert items and some premade Smuckers "uncrustables" PB and Js. We brought some ziplocs from home so in the mornings we'd eat breakfast and then we'd bring some bagels and fruit into the park with us. At night we'd take treats back to our room. We always took our fair share of waters and other drinks as well.

There's an "express" elevator straight to the lounge from outside the hotel so that was always where we went first, gathered up some goodies and then went back down one floor inside the hotel to our room, and when we headed out sometimes we do the same thing in reverse. If I do it again I'll request a room on the 11th floor, that would have made it a bit easier to use the lounge but it really was never a big deal, again, as we were located closer to the 'quiet' elevators. The main elevators were much, much slower.

I used the concierge once, to book a PS at the Storyteller's Cafe on the day we left (Wednesday morning). We got a great booth, I don't know if it was because the concierge booked it for us or if it was happenstance. They were super helpful and got me what I wanted immediately.

There were a selection of newspapers available to read in the lounge or to take with you...I am trying to think about what else we utilized. We didn't need PS to Alladin as we had a little coupon from our package, but if you don't they can get you PS in that show and I'm not sure what else. There was always one, and sometimes two, concierge staff available to help you with whatever. People were asking for driving directions, PSs, dealing with complaints, whatever. It was quick access to a DLH staff, no matter what your need.

Booth covered it pretty well. I'll add a couple of opinions:

We did PP Concierge last month. The "view" for us was looking over DCA (we were "upgraded" to 15th floor...just under the penthouse) amazing view.

Beer & wine available beginning at 5pm. Mrs. Hound enjoyed a glass prior to us going to the park in the evening.

The free water feature was good for us in the summer (at least 12-14 bottles per day)....don't know about December.

Like Booth i figured our Concierge feature added $130 bucks per day to the tab. The food/drink component was worth maybe 60 bucks per day....BUT we were able to use it all 3 days of our 2 night stay.

We arrived early... 9:15am on a Sunday which worked out great. Ensured (i think) a great room, full usage of conceirge for the whole extra day & a whole day at the park.

The other reason we chose to DO concierge & that it was probably "worth it" was we used EE both Monday & Tuesday (because we were "on-site"). We only would have gotten ONE day EE if we had stayed at HOJO. Given this fact:

If i was returning in Dec. (shorter hours perhaps?) & got 1 or 2 extra days of EE & all the bennies that Booth & I outlined, I would do it. But then again, I'm an EE fanatic.

Have fun. :thumbsup2

it is a rate for people with Annual Passes, I don't actually have an annual pass but you can reserve it anyway and just show your AP at check in.

I still can't decide what to do. Oh well, I have a few months left to fuss about it.

I just booked concierge at PP for my Dec quick trip. I'm arriving at 9 in the morning and we're leaving the next night...will I be able to use the lounge both days??

We're in the same boat as you. We have ressies in Oct for hojo at $54 a night. We called this morning and got quoted $129 for pph standard, $169 for pph concierge and $149 for DLH standard. No GCH available for our entire stay. We stayed PPH concierge in Feb and thought kids would like to stay at DLH in Oct becasue of their pool and booked DLH. We asked ds if he would prefer DLH with the Neverland pool or PPH with concierge and he voted for PPH concierge. Dh is happy since he wanted to stay there in the first place and for $10 more we have access to the lounge.

The lounge offers a continental breakfast(muffins, pastires, fruit), smuckers uncrustables, cookies, chips & fruits around noon, cookies & fruits in the afternoon and some appetizers in the evening. Having access to the lounge cut down our food budget quite a bit since we often went back to the hotel in the afternoon. If you'll be spending all day in the park, concierge may not be worth it for you. I don't believe you can take a bottle of wine to your room in the evening as they did have servers pouring the wine. All other drinks may be taken out of the lounge however.

We might split our stay since we're there for 7 nights. 3 nightshojo's and 4 nights PPH.

Since you have stayed at PP concierge before what can you tell me about it,
did you like your room, (do the windows open to get some fresh air?) what floor were you on?
How was the walk to DL? We haev staeyd at DLH before but not PP
I assume it is acceptable to walk out of the lounge with water and drinks for the day at the park?
what do you get with the turn down service?

any info would be great..........

I'm not V&B's Mom, but I stayed at PP Conceirge last month.

Windows DO NOT open. Our room was on the 14th (or 15 floor) just under the penthouse) & looked out over DCA. :thumbsup2

How was the walk to DL?
In the morning you walk thru the GCA lobby, into DTD & to the DL gate. (10 min.) Returning to PP in the late evening we used this same route.

For our afternoon break (coming & going) we would walk thru the GCH "double secret" entrance into DCA....nabbing FP's along the way.

I assume it is acceptable to walk out of the lounge with water and drinks for the day at the park?
Yes. We loaded up 2-3 times a day with water/snacks & beverages.

what do you get with the turn down service?
We got nice flowers & chocolate & chocolate covered rice krispy micky treats.

For Appetizer at 5pm - wife had wine. one day there was egg rolls, the next was a chicken terrayaki (along with cheese & veggies etc.) We ate these instead of meals at DLR.

You already got info above on Bfast & Lunch. The only meal we "paid for" the 3 days we were there was a late bfast at Carnation Cafe (a tradition for us) after EE. (we had eaten at 6:30am in Concierge prior to EE, & by 10:30 we were hungry.)

Have fun. :thumbsup2

Hound pretty much covered it. I don't remember if our window opened or not. I have to look at my photos. Our room was pretty similar to Hound's. We were on the The floor underneath the penthouse and we were upgraded for free to a parkview room. We had 2 queens and a daybed. We would walk to DL via GCH's entrance. We have a 6yo and a 9yo and it was an okay walk for them, obviously not a short walk like GCH's. It's a pretty similar walk from DH to DL. It is totally acceptable to grab drinks & snacks and take them out of the lounge. We would grab 4 bottles of water and 2 sodas before heading to the park each morning so we never had to buy drinks except for sit down restaurants. FYI: the drinks are the little 12oz plastic bottles of water & soda. We would even grab a bag of chips or the gigantic chocolate chip cookies on the way to the pool. Turn down service is similar to GCH's, they just fold your comforter/duvet to the bottom of your bed and fold down your sheets and blanket. They'll leave chocolate coins on the nightstand and on our 1st night left chocolate covered Mickey rice crisoy treats.

I forgot about the chocolate coins. DS 8 got mad that we opened them....thought he could use it buy stuff on Main St. :lmao:

I also forgot about the cookies....man THEY were good. :thumbsup2

I doubt it is "policy"....but when we arrived at 9:15, we were checked in & in my opinion were treated wonderfully (better) when the CM found out we were Concierge. Went over everything that we get...walked us over to the bellman our bags were "checked" for the day & gave us the Conceirge Room Key so we could use it immediately.

We went up there, had some breakfast, picked up some waters & drinks, freshened up....& walked on thru the GCH lobby (& thru the secret entrance) into DCL (since it was 10:15). Came back at 4pm to "check in" to our room & then had appetizers, drinks etc. at 5pm for our dinner prior to going to DL for the evening.

The day we left, we didn't "leave" DLR till 7pm. We had Bfast, grabbed drinks for the day, came back and had lunch, checked out, asked if we could keep our concierge key.....CM said no problem, put our stuff in our car in the parking garage, grabbed some more waters, went to the park, came back at 6pm, had some food & drink, wife had a glass of wine, grabbed a couple of waters & cokes & cookies for the 2 hour drive (to relatives), & drove off.

That was our experience....I bet yours would be similar. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I can only hope I'm so lucky!

Quick question, rumor has it that you can only take 2 drinks per person, is that correct? When you guys say loaded up, I am thinking tons of drinks. Is it still only 2 bottled waters/sodas per person? Thanks

Andrea

Yes, its only 2 per person. But its not like they pat you down before you leave:3dglasses We would grab some sodas, waters, juices and cookies (they are soooo good) and they would not bat an eye. The only thing that they ever said was "have fun today and come back soon"

Yes, it is 2 bottled water/sodas per person/per visit. Dh would grab coffee, pastries and water while the kids and I were getting ready in the mornings and would again stop by the lounge on the way to the park to pick up drinks while the kids and i grabbed our pastries. So conceivably, you could get as many drinks as you want if you walk in and out of the lounge. We're a family of 4 and there was no way dh was going to lug around 8 bottles of drinks in the park in his backpack. We usually ended up walking out of the lounge with 4-6 drinks total at a time.
