While I was drying my hair this morning and thinking about our upcoming WISHcon in Jan. 2005 it suddenly hit me.........

I am in charge of this event..... What if I don't lose this weight? Can I really do it? I have over 100 lbs. to lose! That is so much weight! Could I walk the half marathon at that weight if I don't lose it? And if I don't lose it- I will die of embarassment!

Oh man!! All of a sudden- I feel really SICK!
What have I gotten myself into?

Relax.
Just think of it as mega-motivation to stick to your weightloss plan! LOL
Besides, do you really think anyone is going to think bad of you if you DIDN'T lose the weight?? Or if you don't lose the whole 100lbs? Get real. :) We have all been there/are there.... no one in the world would understand more than others also trying to lose weight! :)

Oh and btw- I have to find info on this Jan 2005 WISHcon. Maybe I can make it too!

Don't feel too bad - I've just told all my mates and Dh that i'm going to RUN a whole Marathon!!!

LOL

We are all in this together! I have over 100# to loose too, and I am not going to worry about the big picture yet. What I am going to do though is set up a time with a personal trainer (I get this through DH's work) and tell her what I want to do (1/2 marathon) and ask her to help me set up a schedule. That way I will have a plan. I guess I would suggest the same for you.

"if you fail to plan, you plan to fail" is one of my favorite quotes, it really puts it out there that you can't just assume things will just happen, but you have to work your plan!

Here's another:
Plan your work... and work your plan!

YOU CAN DO THIS! We have time to get it going, and help each other out.

and like BibbidyBobbidyBoo said, no one would judge you, so please don't let that hold you back.

Hugs to you!

Like I mentioned before Karen -- when I told my husband he laughed at me! I understand where he is coming from though..... Here I am 75+ pounds still to lose (after losing 33) and I am so out of shape. It is a chore to just go a flight of stairs for me! I am going to continue to work on getting the weight off this year and start to add some activity. And then work on really training in 2004. We can do it Karen! That is one of the reasons I 'volunteered' to help you in this..... I can't help but to stay commited in it -- Karen will be counting on me!;)

EEEEEK! You scared me! It took forever for this post to load. I nearly fainted at the thought of some scary health problem you were reporting!

Lookie here, missy! YOU CAN DO THIS! Don't think too much about the event, just work on the day by day stuff until the big day arrives! You have already done a wonderful job with your new lifestyle! Turn your focus back to small goals! Plan a training program for the next 2 weeks, then when that's over, tackle the next 2. I have every confidence in the world that you will be the leader of the pack in our merry little group of WISH marathoners!!!

Now your scare may have burned a few extra calories, so that was a good thing! Adrenaline rushes are really cool! Are you feeling calmed down yet? 'Cuz you know we are behind you and whether you lose 5 more pounds between now and the marathon or all 100 pounds, you will be fine! :)

Karebear......You can do this ....I'm here for mucho grande support....

First of all lets take the weight first....If you figure within 1 year from now your goal is 100 lbs...that
s only about 2 lbs a week....Now realistically you'll get it some weeks and not others...DO NOT PANIC!!!!

After we get near the weigh goal you want then we can focus on training....

So, while we are brainstorming and planning you it as motivation....weight loss if most important right now...but you can do it ...look at all the support you have...

Love you Kimball

You can do it karebear!!!! Don't worry!! We are all here and will help you anyway we can!!!

Thanks for taking on such a venture!!! IT is motivation to lose the weight, keep it off, and keep up a healthy lifestyle!!

Kamy

I understand. DH said the same thing to me (in a very supportive way).

Together we will all keep each other motivated and encouraged.

You don't have to lose all of the weight to do the marathon.

PRINCESS VIJA

I would love for you to share your training plan. I have been concerned about how to begin training now. Currently I walk 3 miles a day (five days a week)in about 50 - 55 minutes. Now I will confess that This is only my second week so it is still tough. Sweat always pouring down my walk, start the breathing hard during the last 1/2 mile, but never giving up.

I will post my training plan after I get it from my trainer. I don't have a clue as to how she will help me with this goal, but I'll keep you posted!

You've gotten yourself into a healthier way of life!!! I think it's wonderful you volunteered to help plan WISHcon for 2005 and while I never thought of running the marathon before, you've inspired me to try!! You've got a year and a half to lose the 100 lbs. and you can do it - you know you can! Just take things slowly, one day and one step at a time!! No matter what happens we're all proud of you and will be happy to have you there no matter what size you're at!

I guess you guys are right. I need to concentrate on the small goals I have set. If I do this, then I should be able to succeed. It's just thta I have never succeeded in the area of losing weight before. But, if I keep coming here I should be ok.

BUT IT'S STILL SCAREY!

Karebear1 -

Absolutely agree with your mindset. Small goals and great friends to help you reach them along the way!

Have a wonderful day!
Lois

Ah, Karen. Don't feel sad. I think that there are a lot of us on that list who have a lot more to lose. But we're optimistic! And YOU gave us that! Here's a

from all of us to help calm you down!

Okay?

Now, get out there girl! There's work to be done!
whip2.gif
I'm kidding, you know!

Debbie- Keep that whip in your file- I think I may need it again!!

Karen, like I told you earlier, take one goal at a time!! Don't worry about what you look like...Trust me, we are both going to be gorgeous by the time it gets here!! We will do it together!! :):)

Hugs!!

karebear you can do it. I just wanted to share with you that i too had 100 #'s to lose. And like you the thought of 100 sounds so overwhelming and impossible. Here's what i did. I broke down my weight loss into 10% goals. I started at 234.5 my first 10% was to loose the 24.5 lbs goal attained! That put me at 211 from there it was 21lbs which will put me at 190 (only three lbs away to date). This made goals seem so much more reachable for me and not quite so far way. I know i have a long ways still to go. But i see it as i'm almost half way there and I'm only a tick over 3 months into my new lifestyle. Maybe it would help you to try this. I know you can do it you will be successful just trying. We are all with you don't be afraid. This is your new life take charge of it and do all you can. We all have set backs but the next meal is a brand new start. Go for it and we'll see you in 2005 and you can show off to all of us!

Okay, I didn't read all the replies. I'm way far behind on WISH and my husband will be home from the gym soon, so I'm just going to cut to the chase.

Listen to me, you are an intelligent, clever, articulate, organized woman with a magical sense of humor. When you don't know the answer to a question, you find someone who does. If you don't know how to handle a situation, you find someone who does. I've got a feeling that you are a good problem solver and know how to delegate. If you don't know how to delegate, don't worry. You are surrounded by caring, intelligent people who will help you to delegate. They will probably volunteer to help.

Now, this losing weight stuff. I don't know if you've noticed lately but you are a very determined person. When you tried the Curves eating plan and lost no weight or inches, you thought about it and made a new plan. That tells me that you are motivated and determined to lose this weight.

I do not doubt for a minute that you will be as successful at planning this event as you have been following the Atkins plan.

You just need to do one thing right now. You need to believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself you will be the only person on WISH you doesn't because every one of your WISH friends believe in you. We're pretty darn smart too, we know what we're talking about.

Now stop worrying. You will do a great job planning this and you will do a great job reaching your goal. Trust me...I know this kind of stuff :)

I too have 100 pounds to lose, and I also want to walk the marathon with you guys! When I told my sweetie what I wanted to do, he kind of looked at me like I was a little crazy, and then I said, "wouldn't you be proud of me?" and he smiled. He is the skinny good looking guy that you see around town with the fat gal LOL. He loves all of me, but I know he wants me to be healthier. So, I am going to do this. I am going to do it for myself, him, and my daughter. And the only way that I am going to get that marathon finished is to do it ONE STEP AT A TIME! We have 19 months to train for it. That is no guarantee that we will lose ALL of the weight, but just think about how much healthier we will be just from the training!
