Oh my Gosh my Oil Bill

I juswt got my oil bill and I am in shell shock! I knew it would be a little higher but WOW! It is almost $300 more and we really kept our house on the cool side this year! yikes!

Ouch. We bought ours last summer on a pre paid plan. It got me through except for the last 100 gal. that I had to pay at current rates when we filled up. Hopefully, it will be the last oil bill we will get for a while. Spring should be around the corner!

Now do you have an electronic thermostat that you can turn off/on, go on low? That has helped us.

We are in a 2000 sf house,/ 3 bedroom/two story.

We had a full tank of oil the day we settled (Dec 19), and we got to 1/4 tank On 3/15. (yes, almost three months!)

We paid 1.69 a gallon for 100 gallons, and we are now at 3/4.

We have a 375 gallon tank in the basement.

Don't remind me! My house is not that big ( approx 1200 sq ft of liveable space ) and I have a thermostat that regulates the heat at different temps at different times. I still use anywhere from 1000 to 1200 gallons of propane every winter.

We don't have a programable therm. But I turn it back every night with out fail to 62 and then up in the morning to 64 then back to 62 late morning til dinner time. Plus some of the time it stayed on all the time at 60 we have a fire in the fire place almost daily Which Iknow some will say sucks the heat out of the house but ours is really well built and huge. WE don't have the big draft feeling as some people.
I think it was due to the higher cost of oil almost 60 cencts and the fact it was so bitterly cold!
Oh well cold be worse!
